ROBLOX Library Community Guide

The ROBLOX Library is an archive of literature and information created by the members of Roblox. Our library believes in expressing and opening the world of literature through the user-generated content. We also hold events and other activities to bring our community closer together outside of literature.

FAQ

1. How do I make a book?

See the section below this one, titled Book Submission Guide.

2. Is there a minimum/maximum word count?

No, there is no minimum/maximum word count.

3. How long does it take for my book to be reviewed?

First, your book is looked at by our review committee; they ensure your book follows Roblox’s ToU and Community Guidelines. Next, a librarian will create your book at their workshop. Then, after about a week, the librarian will move it to “Book Purgatory”, essentially the waiting room for books. Finally, a book mover will move the book from purgatory into the library. Most of these will take varying amounts of time and I cannot assign a time length to them. The maximum your book will take to enter the library is about 3-6 months.

4. Can I submit multiple books at the same time?

Yes, you can submit multiple books at the same time.

5. How can I add pictures to my book(s)?

They must be decals uploaded on Roblox with copying allowed. Just include the decal link in your story where you want the picture to be.

6. How do I become a staff member?

See the section titled Promotion Guide.

7. Can I publish a book from real life?

No, we do not accept real books because it would be plagiarizing. Books must be at least 50% original content and all external sources must be credited.

8. Is a book about ______ okay?

Refer to the ROBLOX Terms of Use and Community Guidelines to see what topics are okay for roblox.

9. Is there a minimum/maximum book length?

No, there’s no specific length a book must be, although it’s preferred to be longer than at least one in-game page; if it’s a very long book (more than 25 pages), it may be split into multiple volumes in order to reduce lag, but it is still allowed in the library.

10. How do I get notified for events or game updates?

Please join our Communications Server to stay up-to-date on all things library related!

Book Submission Guide

You can submit a book through two different methods:

Via RLC's Communications Server

Click this link to guide you through our Communications Server submissions.

Books that are submitted through the Communications Server will get tracked and notified. More information will be located in the submissions channel’s pinned messages.

Via Librarian's Roblox Messages
  1. Write your book.

  2. Message anyone in the rank Librarian in the group.

If your Roblox settings prevent you from messaging a librarian, please friend them or let us know on the wall, where we can further assist you.

  1. Make sure to provide a book title, description, color/cover image (which must be a decal on roblox that is free to take), genre, and the book itself.

  2. Send it, and wait till it is in the library!

If you submitted your book through Roblox Messages, you will not get notified on your book’s status as regularly as those books that are submitted through the Communication Server.

After sitting in the “waiting room” for about a week, your book is looked at by our review committee; they ensure your book follows Roblox’s Terms of Use and Community Guidelines. If it is approved, a librarian will create your book at their workshop. Then, after about a week, the librarian will move it to “Book Purgatory”, essentially the waiting room for books. Finally, a book mover will move the book from purgatory into the library. Our book movers do not follow a strict schedule, but typically will move all books of a certain genre at once; meaning if you submit a book that is for a relatively uncrowded genre, it will likely get moved faster, whereas if you submit a book that is for a genre with no space, it could take a considerable amount of time to be moved. Because of this, there is no exact estimate I can give for how fast your book will be moved into the library, but at most it will be a few months.
