I recently found out that a number of after-school programs with internet access are blocking access Roblox sites. I asked them what their reasoning was behind blocking Roblox, and all I could really gather was “When kids are clicking links on Roblox, it’s downloading malware onto our computers. You can actually notice the computers running slower.”
I’m not sure if this is due to kids clicking malicious links in comment sections, if malware is actually being transferred on the normal Roblox website, or if it’s something entirely different and they’re just blaming it on Roblox. The details I gathered were pretty vague, but if I had to guess, the problem probably stems from malicious links in comment sections. Regardless of what it might be, it’s extremely inconvenient for countless users, including me.
LOTS of people associated Roblox with being malware.
I think it would helpful to know more about the computers and specs and games tested (ex: A 800 MHz computer on Mining Inc does not do well).
Also an issue is Roblox is blocked on school networks. Why? It is required for school funding from the state (at least where I am). This is why Roblox needs offline mode. Either I need to find and connect to an ethernet port when I crash, or have to hope I did not use any folders or ParticleEmitters that prevent the file from opening.
I looked up the “Artemis#s” string on google and it’s McAfees way of classifying something that looks suspicious but hasn’t been confirmed as a virus before. I couldn’t retrieve the log file because it was already deleted.
That’s why I hate antivirus – they’re worse than viruses in some cases. “Oh, not sure if this is a virus or not. YOU HAVE NO SAY IN WHETHER I DELETE IT OR NOT. HAH!” – I absolutely hate antivirus that doesn’t prompt you on what to do with a possible virus and instead just deletes it. AVG seems to be the lesser of all evils, but it still has its annoyances (e.g. I can’t exit the program in any way without completely uninstalling it)

A lot of antiviruses give the option to quarantine instead of delete. That’s what I always set it to, because sometimes I intentionally download malware.
