Roblox not installing completely

Hi, I’ve recently run into an issue where I can’t fully install Roblox. When I check the LocalAppData\Roblox folder, it’s clearly incomplete.

No matter how I run the installer (even with administrator permissions), it only installs 3 or 4 folders and the Versions folder. It installs the Roblox Player, but without the necessary folders, Roblox won’t launch.

I’ve reinstalled the Roblox app six times or more, but the issue keeps happening.

Also, sometimes the Versions folder ends up being installed in Program Files (x86) instead of LocalAppData.

this issue started recently it used to work fine on this device. i don’t think it’s hardware related, since other similar PCs install Roblox normally.

would appreciate if a staff member could take a look at this. seems like an installer bug, not user error. still facing the same issue even after multiple clean reinstalls.

Hello! I am sorry you are going through Roblox installation issues, I had my fair share of similar issues in the past and I will try my best to help you out! Have you tried deleting anything related to Roblox on your system and then tried reinstalling Roblox? Have you also tried uninstalling Roblox directly from your control panel? Have you tried both at the same time and then reinstalled Roblox?

hey! yeah i uninstalled roblox from control panel and deleted %localappdata%\Roblox, %appdata%\Roblox, and C:\Program Files (x86)\Roblox before reinstalling.
now roblox just closes instantly with no UI or error message.
i don’t have any antivirus installed or running.
not sure what else to try, any ideas? thanks for helping!

No Problem! Perhaps there is a problem with what programs you don’t have or are not running. The most common issue I’ve seen personally is when the user doesn’t have the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package.

In the mean time. I will also suggest you try to check for any updates your system needs.

If all else fails, I would simply try to attempt a PC reset. Yes it is a tedious process and I know it sucks, but that seems to be the only solution, or at least, the only solution for me when similar issues started happening to me, similar to yours.

Thank you for your help! Unfortunately, it seems like neither of the solutions worked for me. I’d prefer not to reset my PC if possible.

So the issue I ran into is exactly what you’re experience based on what I am hearing, where I try to run Roblox but it immediately closes, even on Task Manager. I was quite quick to do a system reset to fix the issue but honestly I am sure there is a better solution to this problem, this might as well be a learning experience for me too haha.

So this portion of the output console seems to be the main issue. I did a little digging for you and one of the main solutions people have came up with for this specific error (I simply just searched up the first error line that you’ve been experiencing) is to do a “clean wipe of [the] graphics drivers with display drivers uninstaller” as shown in the following reddit post:

Let me know if it does not work! In fact, the person who experienced this same error is also resorting to a similar solution you are doing, playing Roblox through Microsoft, that is, until, he was able to fix it through another person’s solution.

Please follow up with me after you have done a clean wipe of your graphics drivers with the display drivers uninstaller and did a reinstallation.

hey, i’ve tried every fix in this thread (ddu, registry clean, deleting roblox folders, running as admin, etc) and nothing’s worked. roblox still doesn’t install or launch properly. sorry if i’m being a bit of a headache i really appreciate your help your reply helped a lot, just not sure what’s left to try at this point.

Now the only other solution I can think of is simply using a different browser. The reason why that might be a solution as well is because the errors you are receiving are Internet Explorer based, as seen here:

You will be able to see “Internet Explorer.” You may not be using Internet Explorer, however, the browser you may be using may still use related systems to Internet Explorer, such as Google services, which I know may be weird to read since playing Roblox through Google on other people’s computers would work just fine, though, for now, I suggest turning to another browser and see if that works.

It is at the point where Roblox still doesn’t work even with the browser solution where I would go back to consider attempting a PC reset to guarantee the fix, though I understand you would not like to resort to that. So for now, I would suggest using Microsoft to play Roblox otherwise.

Stupid fix that worked for me:
Have you tried to fully uninstall Roblox Studio, then move the installer to another partition?

Give a try, and don’t forget to fully uninstall then download a new installer.

I had the same problem a week ago and this fixed it for me, I think it was a permission problem? ( not sure ) Even though I had an administrator account

A fix that worked for me was just patience.
Thanks to everyone who tried helping me out. I think the issue was that my PC couldn’t install the update properly.

After a few days of using the Microsoft Store version of Roblox, it eventually asked me to install the regular version again but it kept getting stuck.

So I went back to the original launcher, tried one more time, and it finally downloaded successfully. Not sure what changed, but it worked.
