So as a disclaimer, i’m not trying to report any bug, I only want to know why it happens.
The possible problem is probably my old and graphics card (AMD Radeon HD6750M Mac edition) which is from 2011 and the latest drivers i belive were in 2017…,
I just wanted to know why it simply can’t render using the other 2 technologies (shadowmap and future).
I don’t expect it of course to render future lighting, but i don’t understand why shadowmap isnt supported.
This topic is here only because i couldn’t find anything online and wanted the experts opinion, i don’t expect any solution apart from changing the graphic card (not really easy too do).
whats your studio quality set to? cause anything under a certain value can cause roblox to default to voxel/soft lighting
same thing with “auto” depending on your graphics card
(if you wanna check its: File > Studio-Settings > Rendering > Editor-Quality-Level. if its set to any value between 11 and 21 then id presume its ur gpu)
unfortunately my Imac dosen’t support anything other than OpenGL.
anyway i tried so many times to change it even to unsupported graphics mode like direct3d11 or vulkan but it wouldn’t change.
Btw I had already saw that thread but it didn’t give me the info i needed
oh yea certain devices cant run certain rendering engines due to hardware limitations. stuff like OpenGL are pretty quick to run so that might be set to a default on lower end or older systems. i think OpenGL can run on practically anything too
yeah that could be an explenation. Since i reinstalled roblox studio lighting got even worse . Once when FRM was at 21 some darker shadows would appear next to obejcts and glass material would have a wierd effect (like a sort of distortion) now it dosen’t even render that anymore
I’m trying to download windows 10 on my imac and see if directx can solve this hardware issue. Thx for the replies
