ROBLOX player doesn't seem to start on single core CPU's

I think I figured out the issue based on my end, and the people who’ve been complaining about ROBLOX not running in the past couple of weeks or so.

It seems that some users on older hardware (specifically single core CPUs) don’t seem to run ROBLOX at all now even though it was running fine on many people’s computers beforehand.

Below is one of the many complaint threads about this issue on the help/technical issues section of the regular ROBLOX forum.

I spoiled the information below this for the sake of archiving, but it’s old.

[spoiler]I have this weird situation. For the past couple of days, ROBLOX Player does not seem to want to start. I see the program running in Windows Task Manager, but the actual window itself won’t boot up and load the level/map.

These are things that I have done to try to fix it.

  • I have reinstalled ROBLOX Player, and the ROBLOX data folder in my appdata. (twice)
  • I have tried to boot the program from other browsers that I don’t use, like Internet Explorer
  • I have tried reinstalling Firefox.
  • I have used CCleaner to see if there was any junk files laying around causing it.
  • I have rebooted my PC.

I don’t think it has to do with the version of ROBLOX itself I am using right now, because I remember being able to play ROBLOX games a couple of days ago, and, to my knowledge, update days are in the middle of Thursday nights/early Friday mornings.

I think what caused it might be a system restore, but I’m not sure completely.

I’m posting this in the bugs forum to see if anybody out there is encountering the same issue. If this was caused by a restore. I’m not sure how to revert it, because I’ve been doing pretty big updates with Windows over the past couple of days, or so. I use Windows 7 64 bit. I do not encounter the issue on ROBLOX Studio.

EDIT: I have tried a couple of other things to try and help my current situation. I looked at the ROBLOX filepath to see if it was right (I’m pretty sure it is.),and I also set the ROBLOX Player’s privilege level to Administrator. I don’t think either of these worked for me.

EDIT 2: I system restored to an earlier state to see if this would fix the issue, it didn’t. I hope that someone on the Devforum can help or post on here if they have the same issue, currently.

Edit 3: I’ve tried resetting Internet Explorer and my Firefox Web Cache, and both didn’t work for me. So I don’t think this issue is related to any of my web browsers. I’ve also noticed a few complain threads, but I’m not sure if they are encountering the same issue that I am encountering.

Yep, we just figured this one out.
This was likely the cause of a bunch of “roblox won’t start” messages you see in the forums.
The fix is in and should be out by the end of this week.
