Shown here, you can see Roblox actively running, but future instances of Roblox will always error as seen there. Booting into Safe Mode results in this same behavior, as well as modifying the registry keys used in listing installed applications (very peculiar).
The problem is that Roblox will not launch, and will run as a background task consuming 6MB of memory and doing 0 CPU operations. This implies an issue with Hyperion, where it flags something on start-up, but that makes no sense considering an existing instance of Roblox is active.
This isn’t an application or driver issue, as stated before, booting into Safe Mode yields no change in this behavior.
? The regular Roblox client is even worse than the Bloxstrap one. It still errors, but instead of displaying an error message, it just sits idle in the background doing absolutely nothing, with no telltale sign something went awry. Wish I could show you what I mean, but again nothing happens, so I can’t.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t replicate the reported bug in our testing on the current builds. Please respond with any new details you can provide to re-open this thread.
It seems the issue at hand was that my computer had been infected with some sort of bootkit, which was process-injecting as a sort of spyware feature. Reflashing the BIOS ROM and reinstalling Windows took care of the issue.
It probably would have helped to do a follow-up to inform y’all of this discovery.
