Roblox refuses to open

  1. What do you want to achieve? Keep it simple and clear!
    I want to be able to play Roblox. Or at least know why I can’t.

  2. What is the issue? Include screenshots / videos if possible!
    So recently I got a new computer (Asus laptop) and downloaded roblox to try and play it. The app seemingly didn’t start, so I wen to task manager to check what’s happening. It seems like the app opens in the background for about 1/2 second and then closes. I started thinking it was Byfron, but it would be extremely odd for the program to just close without telling me why… I then tried the microsoft store client. Same result, opens in the background for about 1/2 second and then closes. I thought this was weird because to my knowledge Byfron wasn’t on the microsoft client? I might be wrong about that. Anyways, just to see, I then tried Studio which DID work fine.

  3. What solutions have you tried so far? Did you look for solutions on the Developer Hub?
    I’ve been looking on the internet for about 5 hours now. Youtubers will tell you the exact same thing. Clear your cache in appdata → local. Ensure that you are running as administrator. Uninstall and reinstall. Nothing works. I even tried to look at what programs were running in the background to see if Byfron was maybe accidentally flagging passive stuff as harmful.

I also have an NVidia GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU. It is definitely not my hardware that is causing the issue.

It’s a real shame that this has to be my first post on the forum. I’ve looked absolutely everywhere, and I don’t want to flood the forum with a post that’s been made before, but I’ve tried everything. Total, cache clears, windows updates, reinstalling the installer, ensuring that roblox is allowed past the firewall (the client, launcher, and installer are all allowed, i’ve made sure of it), running in compatibility mode (both windows 7 and 8). Same. Exact. Result. Boots in the background for 1/2 second. Closes. I’ve played Roblox for 11 years and I’m about to be forced to quit because of some undiagnosable problem. Help me forum, you’re my only hope.

Ok, I don’t know what happened, but I straight up went to sleep, woke up, and it worked. I have no clue… And yes, I restarted my computer multiple times during the troubleshooting process (not just restarts either, full shut downs, waiting 5 mins, restarting).

Just built my new PC today. My issue is identical to your description. I have been at this all afternoon with no luck. Maybe the overnight trick will work for me too? God, I hope so. Very frustrating. Guess I’ll find out tomorrow.
