Roblox Studio Crashes on Startup

  • Describe the bug. Describe what is happening when the bug occurs. Describe what you would normally expect to occur.
    When I open the place with Edit, Roblox Studio opens the place to the point where I can see what’s actually in the place and what I’ve built, then crashes about a second after.

  • How often does the bug happen (Everytime/sometimes/rarely)? What are the steps that reproduce the bug? Please list them in very high detail. Provide simple example places that exhibit the bug and provide description of what you believe should be the behavior.
    Everytime, and so far with only this specific place: assets - Roblox

  • Where does the bug happen (www, gametest, etc) Is it level-specific? Is it game specific? Please post a link to the place that exhibits the issue.

  • When did the bug start happening? If we can tie it to a specific release that helps us figure out what we broke.
    This only started happening today. Last night I was able to open/close the place fine.

I suspect it’s something to do with a corrupt published file, but I tried reverting it back to different versions and the same error still occurs. At this point I’m really not sure what’s causing it.

My roblox Studio is closing when I open a baseplate or file?

Can confirm that this is happening to me as well. At first, studio tried to start but then tossed up this message without even opening the session:

Upon examining the file tree, there is no version starting with 773.

I rebooted my computer in the hopes that it would fix it, but now its behavior is identical to what @JukeRblx described above.

The game I’ve been trying to open is this: Pocket Town - Roblox

Edit: The error is fake! just move it to the background.

Having the same issue with my games:

  1. FF PC Test - Roblox
  • Will instantly crash and exit studio upon editing the game.
    (Unable to get micro-profile dump)

This is also occurring for me but only when trying to access my game. I was working on it without problems last night as well.
I don’t receive any crash notification.
Edit: It seem to be affecting a few more of my recently opened games

Honestly it’s kind of comforting to see that it’s not just me, though that also means it’s probably leaning towards being some issue with Studio rather than a corrupt file on my end. Anyways, I also tried rebooting my laptop like @ChipioIndustries with no luck.

Oh woops I misread your post. For me there’s no actual error popup, it just crashes and disappears.

Thank you for reporting this issue - It has been sent to engineering to take a look. They will follow up later on this thread with more information.

This issue should be resolved for now. We’re looking into a more permanent fix for this that should roll out later today. Let me know if you encounter this (or similar) issues again today!
