Roblox Studio Failing to Install Properly

My Roblox Studio began crashing on startup after a recent update. I attempted to uninstall and reinstall, scrub the local files, restart my computer, and yet roblox studio would continue to crash immediately after startup.

Latest version being the version at the time of posting
This is with the “Next Gen Studio Preview” beta enabled

Reproduction

  1. Start Roblox Studio after installing the latest version
  2. Crash

I took a look at the crash log and it stated that the “Ribbon configuration directory does not exist”. I’ll attach the crash log. I looked for the directory and found a .zip at “Roblox/Versions//RibbonConfig.zip”. It seemed to produce the directory this way every time roblox studio was installed. I extracted the zip to the same directory and then studio no longer crashed on startup

Hey BlueMond - I think this may be some issue with the installer. To help us determine this, could you upload the installer log in a private message as well?

It should be in the same folder as Studio logs, but containin RobloxStudioInstaller

No problem, I’ve attached the studio installer log of the installation that happened immediately before the provided studio log in the private message associated with this post.

Thanks for that! Do you use any non-standard type of installer/launcher? Bloxstrap or similar?

Nope, I use all vanilla for installing and launching

I was just having this issue a few minutes ago and was able to solve it on my own. Here’s how I did it: instead of launching Studio after installing the main Roblox client, I went over to the Creator Dashboard, clicked one of my games, and selected “Edit Studio.” I installed the Studio launcher from there. After it finished downloading, I didn’t have any issues booting up Studio again.

Hope this fixes your issue!
