ROBLOX Studio taking up an excessive amount of memory out of no where

Not sure about the tag, it might be the closest thing to achieving any sort of help.
I am a designer who was testing out my clothes on ROBLOX Studio before uploading and ROBLOX Studio has been taking an excessive amount of Memory. I do not know where or how such a problem came to occur. I closed all background processes, made sure I didn’t have any malware, deleted free models, and loaded a freshly made baseplate and ROBLOX Studio has become unusable for me. This is a screenshot of how much memory on Task Manager it was taking after opening a Classic Baseplate. I do not have a high-end PC, only 8GB of RAM. However, I was still able to run ROBLOX Studio and Blender for that matter very smoothly, but all of a sudden I can’t even move my camera or even select anything without it taking a whole minute. This is a major inconvenience because I use Studio regularly and don’t know how to clear such a thing. I don’t have any scripts either. Any assistance could be greatly helpful.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling?

Definitely try this. But if you’re a frequent free-model user, I suggest looking into everything. There are certain things they put in models, like “weld-to-last” scripts that actually duplicate a part infinitely until your studio/game crashes. Or the free model already comes like that, has hundreds of duplicates in the same place.

Yes. Over two times, run as admin & not. Don’t know what the problem is.

Did this, I even cleared all free models from my game and am still facing problems. What’s weird is that it was really out of the ordinary too, because yesterday morning it was running smooth and I imported a free model of a simulator with a ton of items and it was working extremely smoothly! Absolutely no problems until yesterday afternoon when I imported a blank baseplate and started facing what couldn’t even be considered lag to an extent.

Don’t know what to tell you, report it to the bugs area on Devforum? Because it most likely is something to do with Roblox studio itself messing up. I forgot if that bug reporting area still exists…haven’t been on the DevForum in forever lol!

As stated above other items may be involved.
Plugins or free models may insert a script into your place somewhere you may not even expect. It might get hidden inside Lighting or one of the other folders/services in your Explorer window.
First off try turning off all your plugins, especially ones that you’ve recently started using.
Start Studio again with another fresh baseplate and try it out. If it gets better then it’s probably a plugin problem.

I had a similar issue last year, but my computer was 8 years old at the time and the hard drive was starting to fail causing everything to slow down. Since Studio was what I mostly use on my computer it was the first place I noticed issues.

edit
When you say you ‘imported’ a blank baseplate, was it the default baseplate from Studio, or one from free models?

It doesn’t seem unusual. Studio uses around 1.4GB of memory for me. I also only have 8GB and it runs pretty well.

Previously I always ran at around 200mb of memory at it’s worst for me, but it would never surge up to 1GB, not even if it was really laggy. I never understood how or why such a problem could occur. My PC is 8+ years old but it’s still in good shape and works well to do daily tasks.

You should back up your important stuff and fresh install the operating system and install Studio.

For me this happens quite a lot. Most of the time I just firm it.

You could allocate more RAM. This isn’t going to fix your issue however it will give your computer more leniency to cope with it. To do this, right click Studio on Task Manager, Go to details, right click Studio again and then set priority = high. This is just one solution.

Alternatively, you can lower your graphics in studio by going to File, Studio settings, Rendering and then messing around with the editor quality level a bit. This should take it down a bit.

RAM usage is always going to be a lot higher in Studio than in the actual game.

strange, roblox is using up 15GB of ram, fresh baseplate, worked fine yesterday, and i havent used free models, installed plugins, etc.
(i opened a fresh baseplate and it already is using up 3.3GB of ram…)
another update: still on the fresh baseplate, im uninstalling plugins i rarely use, and its already up to 10GB

I’ve been facing a similar problem for a long time now. In the picture you can see that Roblox Studio uses 1.4 GB of the memory, but I want to note that I haven’t even entered any of the experiences yet.

I literally just opened Roblox Studio and I’m in the my games selection window.

Is there any reason for this?

That is normal, Roblox Studio loads most of it’s libraries into your system’s memory even before you load into a place.
