Roblox Studio unexpectedly quits when opening up a script

Hi,

Specifications

Model: Macbook Pro M1 14’’
Version: macOS Monterey

Problem

I just got the Macbook Pro M1 14’’ and whenever I open up scripts (mainly larger scripts), Roblox Studio tends to crash and gives me the “Roblox Studio unexpectedly quit” error.

Timeline

Started occurring: 2022/12-03
Last time it occurred: 2022/12-05

Methods

I have:

  • Reinstalled Roblox Studio
  • Deleted all Roblox files (including preferences, logs, and the entire library for Roblox)
  • Updated my Macbook
  • Played around with the settings in Studio
  • Deleted all plugins
  • Disabled all beta features
  • Disabled the script analysis feature
  • Disabled any features related to the script editor
  • Reset the entire Mac

This makes it incredibly hard for me to work.

Any ideas on how to solve this?

Are you sure your laptop can handle Roblox Studio?

Absolutely. This laptop is one of the most powerful laptops but I believe it’s just not compatible with Studio.

Did you check the Roblox Studio System Requirements?

Open your Task Manager, Is Roblox Studio still running?

Yeah, it meets all of the requirements.

Roblox Studio immediately shuts down when it occurs, makes it difficult for me to see what happens.

Have you tried running studio in a virtual machine running a Linux distro?

Could be a hardware issue; MacOS is troublesome with ROBLOX in my experience.

I’m not seeing anything strange, everything looks okay to me.

I haven’t tried a VM but I wanna keep those options for last if there’s absolutely no way for me to use Roblox Studio on my Mac without running in to issues.

Found the issue!

I have a Module where most of my scripts work with, in that script, there were lines of code that made my laptop crash. Considering the Module was required in many of my scripts, it made Roblox Studio crash when those were opened up too.

If you are experiencing the same issues, please check your scripts!
