Roblox: Survivor | Ranking System & Competitive Mode Changes

As we near the end of RS season 0, we wanted to share our plans for the competitive experience going forward.

Currently in our ranking system, your rank is very closely tied to the amount of games played, and it doesn’t represent your skill very well as you can’t lose your rank. We want you to have an accurate representation of your current skill in seasons, rather than having your rank as a cosmetic.

Let’s talk about our next steps!

The Ranks

There are now 9 ranks instead of our 20~ that we used to have, Survivor, Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Emerald, and Amethyst. These ranks are each divided into three tiers (except for amethyst - which is the top 20 highest rated players).

Placing well in seasons is the most important factor into ranking up - but if you perform exceptionally well, your rank can go up faster. Inversely, placing bad and performing well below expectations (deduced from your previous matches) will reduce your rank.

Your personal performance will also have a higher impact when you’re lower on the ranked ladder - with consistent placements becoming more important as you go up. For those in the Amethyst rank - your placements will be the only thing we measure, as we trust that you have earned your way there.

Competitive Integrity

Our new ranking system is meant to deliver balanced seasons and accurately determine the skill level of a player.

Factoring in your total performance also helps us prevent unwanted rank boosting - as someone might get a series of lucky games where they float to the end. It will also help you get an accurate display of your rank much quicker.

To get an accurate display of your rank, your rank will be hidden for the first 5 matches you play. This is to ensure there’s no confusion with your rank.

Each rank will have a SR bar from 0-100. Once you reach 100, you’ll progress to the next tier of your rank, or if you’re tier 3, move up to the next rank. And if you reach 0 SR, you’ll go down a tier of rank.

SR gain and loss is determined based on your opponent’s skill level - and your expected performance.

Punishments

People leaving matches early is a big problem - as it removes strategy from the game and can even mess up someone else’s game. This is why there are now ranked punishments for leaving early. You will lose more SR the longer you are not in the game - so if you do have to disconnect, try to come back quickly!

Rewards

To give motivation for players to play seasons, there’ll be rewards at the end of a 60-120 day season. These include torch skins, titles, flames, and other rewards that we can’t share yet. You will be rewarded based on your PEAK rank (other than Amethyst) - so don’t be scared to keep playing after you reach a rank you want to be.

What will happen to my current rank?

Your current rank will now be your legacy rank - and you will still be able to earn higher legacy ranks! Your role in the group won’t be your legacy rank, but you’ll receive a title in-game with your legacy rank on it so you can show off!

What’s Ahead

We look forward to hearing your thoughts on the new ranked changes.

As we get closer to the end of season 0, we’ll share another update if the system has changed. We also always want feedback on the ranked system - so keep those coming!
