Roblox texture import issue? Why is it doing this?


This is my asset I made, with surface appearance textures applied, in roblox. Notice the odd randomness of the normal map, plus the odd glitching pixels that are just flat. Looks really weird.

Compare that to what is in Quixel mixer, and what it SHOULD look like. At first I thought that maybe my normal map might have been exported with an error, but looking back on it and exporting a few more times, there is nothing wrong with it. The normal maps do not have these odd artifacts. They only show up in Roblox. Am I doing something wrong here? I tried importing 2048 and 1024 maps and got the same result.

I know Roblox is weird, but I’m praying I’m the one doing something wrong here.

Roblox likely compresses your textures which causes some sort of distortion.
