Roblox throttling the entire network while open

Lately, I have been unable to use the Roblox client due to an issue with the network whenever it is open. It happens regardless of what game, group or even WiFi is being used.

Visual Aid; A video recorded of around the time the issue has started to happen.

The event log (after an in-game session)

The issue has gone away shortly after it’s been recorded back in July, so I haven’t managed to open a bug report in time. However, this time, the issue has returned in Friday, so I can’t manage to play anything at all due to it.

System Information;
CPU - 11th Gen Intel(R) Core™ i5-11400H @ 2.70GHz
Memory - 16.0 GB @ 3200 MT/s
WiFi Adapter - Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160MHz
GPU - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU

Expected behavior

Optimally, Roblox’s client would not throttle the entire laptop while being open.

EDIT: This still occurs, but it throttles the entire network rather than just the laptop now.

Hi, bumping this topic because the issue is still occurring and grows worse with each update. (It got to ~47K ping yesterday and caused the whole network in my house to be completely down until I closed Roblox.)

Alongside it, I have discovered new details that might help finding what causes it;
This only occurs when the HTTP queue (F3 + Shift) is NOT empty (/non-zero), and for some reason removing the laptop charger causes the issue to be ‘temporarily’ solved for approximately 20 seconds before needing to re-unplug the charger.

EDIT: ~54K ping

Hey - just wanted to circle back here, I think this is an issue with your home network, is that right?

That is correct: When the issue happens it throttles the entire house’s connectivity, meaning no other device is able to connect to the Internet properly while Roblox was active.

For some reason, after quitting Roblox, the issue was resolved almost instantly.

My current solution is to use a separate modem (Specifically, the ZTE MC888 5G) that doesn’t throttle the entire house, but since it uses Mobile Data as it’s way of connecting to the internet, it’s painfully slower than the home wifi.

Oh I see, that’s interesting - I’m not sure if this is a problem on our side, but I’ll try to find out

Thanks for the information. After an internal review, we’ve determined that this is likely a local network or hardware-specific issue rather than a bug with the Roblox engine. As our teams do not have the capacity to troubleshoot individual user environments, we are closing this report. That said, we’ve reported the issue to the correct teams internally for their visibility. Please let us know if you come across any other issues.
