Hello, developers!
I wanted to bring up a concern regarding the functionality of the Toolbox search bar that has been bothering me for some time now. I’ve noticed that the search bar doesn’t always gives the results one might expect.
The main issue I’ve encountered is that the search bar often requires you to type in the entire model’s name in order to find what you’re looking for. This seems to defy the purpose of a search bar, which should ideally help users find relevant content quickly and efficiently. Instead, it becomes more of a hassle to navigate through the Toolbox, especially when you’re looking for something specific and forgot about it’s name.
For instance, let’s say I’m searching for a particular type of script. If I only remember part of the model’s name or some relevant keywords, it becomes nearly impossible to find what I need unless I happen to remember the exact name of the model. This can be frustrating and time-consuming, especially for developers who rely on the Toolbox to streamline their workflow.
Here’s an example of that:
Here I’m trying to search “ClearConnections”
1st attempt:
2nd attempt:
3rd attempt: (had to put the actual name of it, or else it wouldn’t work)
I believe that improving the search functionality of the Toolbox would greatly enhance the user experience and make it easier for developers to find the resources they need. Whether it’s through implementing better keyword recognition, improved search algorithms, or other enhancements, there’s definitely room for improvement in this area.
In conclusion, I encourage the Roblox development team to take a closer look at the Toolbox search bar and consider ways to make it more intuitive and user-friendly.
Thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts on this matter. I welcome any feedback or suggestions from fellow developers who may have experienced similar challenges with the Toolbox search functionality.
