If you’ve ever used Voice Chat on Roblox you’d know that the reporting & moderation system as a whole is completely horrible and is in dire need of a revamp. If you have ever used Voice Chat before, you probably have been through the pain of joining an experience > talking for a minute > getting banned for a week, with either no responses to your support tickets, or some generic response reaffirming you that you ‘broke the rules’. If you didn’t already know, reporting someone on Roblox for Voice Chat is a pretty much guarenteed way to get them banned/moderated, as if I’m not mistaken, its simply a terribly made AI detecting if anything breaks the rules, meaning you could literally say ‘Hello’ and if someone reports you, you are pretty much guarenteed to get banned. It can be extremely annoying when it happens every time you use voice chat, pretty much forcing you to only be able to play Roblox after every moderation reset, as if you didn’t already know, moderations stack and after a period of time they reset, for example when getting banned for 3 days your next ban will be for 7, and etc. In the beginning you have a few warnings before getting fully banned, so Voice Chat is literally only usable right after your moderations reset. Not only that, when you do get banned, it isn’t a voice chat suspension, its a out-right ban. This makes it even more flawed for people like developers and creators which NEED to be unbanned to function on the platform, and for a lot of people keep their job. Not only that, people who are actually breaking the rules have no punishment whatsoever, which brings me into my second point below.
Soundboards and extra-loud audios being played in voice chat might be one of the most annoying things of all time. They’re loud, obnoxious, and the people who play them are almost always annoying ten-year-olds on a fresh account to avoid getting moderated on their main account, and even at that, they still do not get banned. Its astonishing how you can literally join a game, report like 20 people, and the vast majority of them get banned, while the people playing loud sounds do not.
In my opinion, there are many ways Roblox can handle fixing this and it’s not hard at all. Years ago, people were complaining about this same issue but with the chat feature, as no matter what you said you would get banned. Now this was later improved, as now, when you say something in chat, a human will actually review it if you send an appeal in and most likely unban you. Also, you only get banned/moderated when chatting if someone reports you. This same approach should be taken for voice chat, and the leniancy NEEDS to be upped. This also means completely removing or making the voice chatting moderation on 17+ experiences so leniant to the point a human has to review moderations taken place on there. Its 17+ for a reason, kids should not be on 17+ games if they do not want to hear people talking in 17+ language.
