No matter what I do, I can’t get roblox to open. This started a few days ago, and I’ve done absolutely nothing to my computer to break it. What happens is, I click play on a game, it shows the “configuring roblox” thing, then it deletes that, says “download and install roblox”, that deletes too. This is all normal, but then nothing happens. If I look in task manager, it’s running in background processes but not apps. It closes itself after 20 minutes, I can click play multiple times to make more of them show up, and if I look in the server tabs on games it says I’m in the server. The only time it works is when I just turn on my computer, sometimes it’ll open and let me play for about a minute, then “An error occurred and roblox needs to quit”. Roblox studio works fine. Roblox used to work perfectly until recently, and the app version works fine but is extremely laggy.
I have tried the following fixes, and none have worked:
Uninstalling and reinstalling roblox
Doing the same but deleting EVERY single file on my entire computer that has to do with roblox, including temporary files, temporary internet files, ect
Clearing browser cache for the past month (with all things to clear selected)
Trying different accounts
Trying different browsers
Updating windows
Updating roblox
Updating my browser
Flushing the DNS server thing
Doing an STF scan or whatever it was called
Restarting my computer after every single one of these
Deleting all my browser extensions
Allowing roblox in Windows Firewall
Allowing every single roblox file in McAfee
Disabling windows firewall and mcafee
Checking internet connection and unplugging ethernet, unplugging the internet thing and plugging it back in
Virus scan
Closing every other app and unnecessary background process
I do not have MSI afterburner or any of those things
Anyway I have no idea what else to do. If anyone has any other suggestions or questions let me know.
I also once had this problem where I couldnt play Roblox at all and my when I tried I would get stuck on “loading place.” screen. I had tried so many things over time and just couldnt fix it. So I gave up and after like 3-4 months I tried again and It just suddenly worked.
I don’t know what you mean by that. Playing it on browser while the app is opened, or just playing on that, closing it, then switching? The second one mentioned didn’t work because I’ve done that. Thanks though.
Are you on the Windows 11 jnsider program? If so I think that may be your issue. I am and I’m also having the same issue. Im just using the micrsoft version of Roblox which works fine.
im in no place to step in (i run roblox under vinegar on linux), but reading your post, im assuming you didn’t try to just open roblox from the start menu (not the uwp one, the one you download from the website).
roblox just kinda breaks sometimes so idk
this is actually really strange, i was going to check for any software requirements but roblox only needs direct x 10. maybe try reinstalling that just in case???
oh yeah I do have some GeForce stuff somewhere. Where do I update this? I did try to update drivers on my laptop but they say there are probably new ones on their website somewhere
This issue has started to happen to me as of today. Studio says it’s ‘updating’ but after it’s done it will not open whatsoever. It is not in my task manager as well when it doesn’t open.
