This does not happen to me but I’ve seen users getting this error as of the latest update. I made this thread to ask if anyone else knew what it was but decided to move to bug reports as people below reported the same thing.
I’ve been getting this error as well since the last few updates. I temporarily fixed it last night by uninstalling some programs and updating all my drivers + running a quick scan for any viruses (came up clean). However, I started getting the same error again a few hours ago and I’m not entirely sure what I can do now. Hopefully this gets fixed soon, especially with the Player One event going on.
Reinstalling won’t help. this is an issue caused by some antivirus programs detecting Roblox as a malicious program. You may see different errors depending on which AV you use, but if you can’t join games this is likely the cause.
Roblox engineers are aware and actively looking into the issue. Sorry for the inconvenience :(
This is a side effect of an attempt to update some anti-reverse-engineering features. More aggressive anti-virus apps will adversely affect such attempts. The client will be updated next week due to this issue.
There may be options in your AV to whitelist the signed roblox apps over the weekend. Or disable aggressive AV in specifically these files for just the weekend.
I use Avast and entirely disabled Avast, shut the whole thing down even the service related items. Avast was practically gone from my computer for a bit and I still got this error. Unless Microsoft is forcing a blanket ban on the .exe file itself because that cruddy default Microsoft defender was definitely disabled. This issue is not just tied to anti-virus at this current moment in time. Please fix it as soon as possible or yet again will people in masses miss out on the event.
I found a fix
Use iObit Uninstaller to nuke Roblox entirely, ensure after to delete the registry keys. I’d also remove the program after because it shoves over software in your face but has always done the job.
Nuke your anti-virus. Disabling it wont do enough in some cases you need to turn off the “self defence module” enabling you to fully shutdown your anti-virus
Attempt to Roblox if works yay if not continue
Open ROBLOX and quickly open your task manager and freeze it after ROBLOX launches. Look for both RobloxPlayerClient.exe and RobloxBeta.exe (or something similar) open their location and set them both to run as administrator by default. After doing this try to open ROBLOX games again if not there’s a really annoying bug. If it then proceeds that it can’t find anything in your programs folder proceed to bonus step
Bonus
Check your program files, it’s empty it seems to also not like that after. I’d copy the contents of the %appdata% ROBLOX into your program files, it sorts itself out
