RobloxPlayerInstaller timedout error and inaccuracy for language

Hello,

I am currently unable to install neither Roblox Player nor Roblox Studio on my PC. The installer downloaded from Roblox Download halts 1/3 of its way and stops without giving any error code nor popup.

So far, I have tried rebooting my PC a few times, rebooting my modem and router, removing %localappdata%/Roblox, and yet nothing changes.

Please find below the used components in my PC as well as the latest log file and more information.

PC Components:

  • Intel (R) Core™ i9-10900K CPU @ 3.70GHz
  • 32GB RAM
  • Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 1TB
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080

Files and Windows used:

  • Windows Home 10 22H2 19045.3516 (fresh install, only Firefox is installed)
  • RobloxPlayerInstaller 1.6.1.6892

Please note that when I try to download https://setup.rbxcdn.com/version-510663c9d33e4fd8-RobloxApp.zip from a browser, it downloads it with no problem and the download takes less than a minute. Likewise, my Windows installation only has Firefox installed with no antivirus nor firewall.

The installer only leaves a shortcut to Roblox Studio, which when clicked also tries to install Roblox Studio and the exact same process happens.

Another minor problem I have encountered is that the display text sometimes shows in English, then French (my computer language), or Spanish. The language changes when performing a new attempt to download.

Edit: I have managed to install Roblox by opening the installed a few dozen times, but now I am experiencing crashes every 20 minutes or so, Roblox Player throws “An unexpected error occured and Roblox needs to quit. We’re sorry!” which is most likely due to a wrong installation.

Log/dump files were attached to the internal ticket by a Roblox Staff (@Focia19), due to the sensitive information they may contain, will not be shared publicly!

Looking forward to your investigation and answer,
Thank you,

We’ve filed a ticket into our internal database for this issue, and will come back as soon as we have updates!

Thanks for flagging!

EDIT: It looks like I got Roblox to work again by downloading the zip file through the browser from the link in the log files, unzipping the zip file, and then replacing the normal RobloxPlayerBeta.exe with the one from the browser. My current theory is that maybe since the time on my computer was messed up the first time, Roblox could not properly download the client, and then my computer cached the download leading to broken files later on. I barely know anything about the internets so this is probably wrong

I think I also have the same problem, where the installer crashes without warning before the installer completes.

I checked the log files and it also appears to be timing out on a zip file, but pasting the hyperlink onto a browser allowed me to download the zip file through the browser (although without knowing what to do with the zip file it did not help with running roblox)

The RobloxPlayerInstaller.exe (the one I downloaded from Roblox and is in my Downloads folder, not the appdata one) appears to work after running it for a second time. It is able to finish the install process and get to “Starting Roblox”, but it does not start Roblox. Checking the newer logs file created by the second try also appears to show that the Installer worked and the Roblox client downloaded, but the client could not be run.

Extra notes are that I’m running Windows 10 but I’m dual booting with Ubuntu. On Ubuntu, I’ve used Vinegar to run Roblox before, and I’ve blocked Roblox on the hosts file in Ubuntu, but these are specific only to my Ubuntu and my Windows is basically fresh.

I can provide extra system specs or logs files to staff if needed.
