What we are looking for
Like the title suggest we are looking for feedback on a game. More specifically for our game “RoCube” which will have its official release in a dew days. Feel free to throw anything at us, we will be sure to take note of your feedback regardless. We are looking for your personal experience of the gameplay, no suggestion is stupid. Do not limit your criticism to the game, feedback on the game Icon and thumbnail is appreciated aswell.
Our objective has been to target a younger players, do you think we have succeeded in making our game appealing to the younger playerbase?
Background
Development of a demo version started about a year ago. At the time the only game making experience i had was from an abandoned tycoon. To this point the game has been developed by myself with the exception of some 2d graphical components, gfx along with the composition.

Press v to place a checkpoint during practice mode
Play Solo will only remove you from the normal matchmaking que, you can still get company by players that join you from the social screen. This to ease the creation of parties.
You will update the leaderboard only once you leave, this to reduce the amount of web calls
The game is great and I think it will have great success. You have definitely reached your target to appeal to a younger player base with the colourful colours and cartoony theme.
Builds
The spawn is very nice and appealing. It fits the low-poly theme well. Although I think there could be a bit more to do in the lobby or something else there as I think after playing for a long time it could become bland.
Each of the maps could have a bit more detail theme wise. Like maybe in the forrest map add some vines hanging off of the block you run on or maybe add special traps specific to each map.
Sounds
The sounds and soundtracks are great! Did you create them? Maybe add a cycle of songs that play in the lobby though because the current one gets a little repetitive after a while.
Glitches
I’ve experienced this glitch two times now where I was playing the game normally, would die but none of the menus would pop-up and I wouldn’t re-spawn. This is the error I think:
One of the only things I found annoying while playing was how long it can take to get back into the proper game. When you die you have to go through multiple menus which can become hassle after a while. Here’s a way I think you could fix that:
When playing multiplayer make it so when you die you just re-spawn at the beginning and you have infinite lives until one person makes it to the end and then that person wins. Or you could make it so you have multiple lives and it’s either the last person standing or everyone who makes it to the end wins.
When playing single player maybe make it so you can keep re-spawning as soon as you die until you press the exit button or maybe have a choice between re-spawning or having to go through menus.
Thumbnail/Art
The thumbnail is very appealing and pops out. So I think a lot of people will click on it and it will be appealing to the younger audience/player-base you’re looking for .
The gamepasses look a little unappealing . Maybe it’s just me but I feel like they should all follow one theme/ have the same border or template. With yours they just don’t really match.
Overall I’d rate the game a 7/10. The only real problem I have with it is how long it takes to get back into the proper game after the block dies. Good luck with your release. Hope some of these helped somewhat. Well done!
I played a few rounds and I felt a bit frustrated about the unforgiveness of the game, I think you should give a bit of leeway to give the game that feeling most platformers have of “waiting til the last possible pixel so I can make the jump and it feels oh-so-good”
My recomendation is to make the spikes a bit bigger but keeping the current size of the hitbox (or just make the hitbox smaller) and making the first level easier.
Yeah but when you click retry it takes you back into the match making and also automatically turns it back to multiplayer so you have to switch it back to singe player(if that’s what your playing) then click ready again. I just would of preferred not to have to go through those menus every single time.
I think a lot of the stuff he said there was good and maybe it’d be nice if you could comment about the other parts rather than just one very small part.
Anyways, overall looks pretty good, however I do agree with everything he suggested. As well, some of the GUI scaling is a bit wonky. For example, the starter pack purchase GUI has weird gaps.
I joined a game and spawned in the lobby - all seems fine, right? Well, no. I was deeply confused, the lack of UI and notifications on what I am supposed to do killed the game experience for myself. The lack of game communication (UI to explain what is occurring, what should be occurring, etc etc) left me to wonder if I should wait it out or just leave, in which I chose the latter.
Great style on build, but the lack of UI really hurts a game.
