Roleplaying Game Map

Hello Developers!

I need some feedback on a map I am making. I only want feedback on the roads.

So, from the looks of it, it seems like you’re either building a neighborhood or a city. Regardless, the roads look too regular. The blocks are the same size and they’re all a perfect square, which just doesn’t always happen in real life.

I just made this in Google Drawings, but this is what it can look like:

The triangular blocks can make room for triangular buildings, and the circular intersection can be for a city center/monument there. The big rectangle at the top left can be for a park.

Something like that can make it a little more interesting. Plus, it’ll be easier for players to navigate since they’d remember locations based on landmarks such as a circular road or a park, etc.

I agree with you. The roads do look too blocky.

Wouldn’t say it looks blocky but it just looks as if a straight line, try to add curve roads, that’ll do it!

Hm, your design idea is interesting, but you don’t have to have roads in-between every block.
If I was making a build (with roads), I would make something like this.

Another suggestion if you’re making a suburban neighborhood, maybe throw in some cul-de-sacs (dead end roads), even though it might not work for your specified game. Grids above work just as fine as long as you use the above suggestions.

this came from my experience in city-building games

they are good, but very plain and boring, adding a highway, and maybe some roundabouts, and roads going different ways other than just straight would look nice

Issues:

  • Too simple, gives a boring vibe.

Suggestions:

  • I personally would make the town a little bit smaller and revamp the look of the streets so they do not give a boring feeling. Give it a proper center and stuff like that.
