How does this site actually make money? You’re collecting an awful lot of data for it to be cheap to run.
Not sure if you saw this:
“How is Rolimon’s free?”
But, of course, a more detailed explanation can’t harm
Oh sorry, I missed that. That still doesn’t explain where the revenue comes from? As far as I can tell the entire site is free?
The revenue tracking features have become highly requested so we’ll add what we’re able to as soon as we can.
We will definitely add a lot more games! We started with a fairly small set but have already added quite a few at the request of game devs, and as the community points out great games that they want to see tracked.
The site generates revenue from the advertisements that are shown on each page.
Rolimon’s has already been running for over two years and has built up a large user base from its other features like tracking and analytics for Roblox limited items and players. The ad revenue from that has allowed us to cover the costs of resources needed to support game tracking/analytics.
Nice. Site looks awesome, good job!
Would you care to share how you are accurately measuring Average Playtime?
Since this data isn’t exposed to public I thought I should ask to make sure of how reliable this stat is.
(I know it’s experimental and has issues)
We just added two new features to the site, a Game Table and Promotion Rates!
The Game Table lets you easily view a variety of stats for every game we track, all in one table with sorting and filtering controls. The table features a Peak Players stat for each game which shows the highest concurrent player count recorded by Rolimon’s. This feature can also double as a leaderboard for every individual stat by sorting greatest to least (click the column headers to sort)
The Promotion Rates page is an exciting new feature that helps developers decide when it’s the right time to advertise to get the best bang for your robux! This page provides estimated impressions per robux for every sponsor and advert type, with historic data for reference
Got a game and want it added to Rolimon’s? Join our discord linked in the original post and ask a staff member and we’ll review it!
Excellent with the ammount of data there is on that! I love these new features being added.
I used to be a user of RTrack but i’ve completely switched to rolimons now. RTrack may have a google plugin but it’s useless if the most basic features are behind a paywall while other services provide it for free.
I’ve grown accustomed to using rolimons to track detailed stats about my game now, and I don’t think i’ll switch off of it, even if i had to pay at some point.
Now what if someone doesn’t want their game to appear much less show stats for personal reasons what ever they might be. I think it’d be a good idea to implement a protection because sometimes target demographics for a game style might help one game succeed and know who uses it and what their device is and such might cause someone to implement a counter tactic that steals some of their player base or creates a huge competitor. (That’s just an example)
I think the answer to your question is that we don’t track advertisement data for individual games, and we don’t track platform-specific data for games either. Because of that we can’t show any analytics regarding “target demographics for a game style”.
To my knowledge the types of stats you’re alluding to are not publicly accessible. The primary stats that we do track are generally publicly visible on the game/asset pages for anyone to see anyway, we simply track them over time and present them in a convenient format. I hope this answers your question.
How did you decide on the current roster of games displayed on the catalog?
Hey,
We add games primarily in 2 ways:
-
We see a game that is gaining popularity // or is already established and we add it ourselves
-
We also take requests to add games in our discord server (Invite link in the original post), currently we’ve accepted most games with consistent concurrent players above 100 (many of which were requested by the developers themselves, but we’ve taken player requests too)
I see.
I imagine it will eventually be costly to keep adding more and more games to the site. Do you anticipate a process whereby you periodically remove the least views or least popular games from the site?
Yes we do remove games and we have a few options when we do this
-Remove the game and all of the data, this removes all records of the game from the website
-Disable data collection (game is no longer discoverable on the website, however all of the data already collected is still accessible with direct link, no further data will be collected though)
Games we might remove are along the lines of:
-Seasonal/event games (think of the bloxy award stage)
-Games that no longer get played, and has no active development updating the game.
-Games removed when they get moderated on the website etc (Content deleted indefinitely)
We’ve added a Request Game page describing how to make a request for a game to be added to Rolimon’s analytics.
We want to add more games to be tracked, but we want them to be the games that you the game devs and the game fans want to see, so please feel free to make requests!
We got feedback that many people weren’t aware they could make requests for their game to be added and we realized we had no messaging about this on the site, so we added this page to address that.
Also @Webspace thanks for your questions and I just wanted to confirm that what our developer community discord manager @WhoseTrade said is correct. I should also add that we intend to only remove/disable games from the site in rare circumstances, and that as the popularity of our analytics features grow we should be able to continue increasing the number of games we can track.
Would it be possible to add “Top Earning” to the filter?
Yes actually we could add a sort for estimated top earnings, however it would only be based on gamepass sales and not dev product sales since we can’t access dev product sale stats.
One potential complication with introducing that sort is that gamepass prices can be changed by the game developer(s). This could lead to misleading revenue estimations, especially of the gamepass prices were changed significantly from the price they were during the majority of their sales. Perhaps one way we could reduce the potential for inaccuracy or outright abuse of this is to just base the earnings on the past week or so.
I think overall it could be a nice feature to add, thanks for bringing it up. It’ll probably just require a little more thought to make sure it’s implemented as accurately as we can manage, and we’ll need to put some proper disclaimers on the site along with it so users understand its limitations.
As it turns out, Roblox disabled public visibility of gamepass sales (at least for now), as @Seranok confirms in This Thread created by @Evercyan
This means we won’t be able to add a Top Earning filter for games anymore unfortunately.
We recently released an update to Rolimon’s to work around this change as best we could. We modified our gamepass Daily Sales charts and Revenue charts to only show data acquired before the change, and to be hidden by default until the user clicks the Legacy Sales Charts button.
As is mentioned in the above thread, perhaps Roblox will allow game owners to optionally share gamepass revenue stats in the future. If so, it’s likely game owners can add our data acquisition bot and the data will once again show up in our gamepass sales charts.
