I’ve currently been working on a game concept that uses RopeConstraints attached to the player to do puzzle/platforming stuff. It’s only a concept right now, not anything close to an actual game.
If you want to try it out: Link to place.
Controls: Space removes rope. E shortens rope. Q lengthens rope. Right now it only works on computers.
I know the game is a bit jank, and i’m working on fixing at least some of that. Constraints on players aren’t the best quality thing out there…
I’d love feedback, especially on the core mechanic and controls. I’d also like to know if you think I should turn this into an actual game. It’s all local, so it’d have to be single player.
The concept is really interesting, and I think it has lots of potential. However, I myself am having a hard time imagining what could be done exactly to make this work. Because this (as you have suggested) would be used in a puzzle-solving game, you would be responsible for coming up with the puzzles and strategies of using your “Cordal Gun.” See what I did, there?
Because your concept is so “young,” I don’t really have any specific suggestions for the mechanics of the rope, either. What I will say, though, is that I’d like to see the player be able to shoot multiple ropes.
I am slightly sad that this would have to be single player. Perhaps in the long distant future there will at least be a “co-op” game mode (if you decide to go that far with this). To answer your question: I would like to see this as a game. But I would like the gameplay mechanics and puzzles to be intuitive and “big-brain-inducing.”
If you ever make any big additions to this, keep us posted.
