You get to compare badges amongst the 3 games that use it tho!
Yeah, that’s what I was implying while trying to avoid being aggressive about it. Not a lot of developers will pay for this.
Im sorry but we gotta be Aggressive with these people- like ngl its an AMAZING IDEA… BUT NOT WORTH MONEY… maybe if they added a donation gui like most FREE plugins and other systems people make but to have a monthly subscription to what amounts to badges with extra steps is NOT it-
Well if you think as a successful creator, you will eventually generate revenue from a game that is enough for a monthly subscription or better, you have a job that gives you the chance to use this product.
Unfortunately we live in a world where money rules over everything, and SaaS are never free forever!
I will be making a full video on this project, from the Dashboard to the Plugin integration and how’s ingame!
I get your point, but RoTrophies is more than just a ‘Badge system as a service.’ It provides advanced features like leaderboards, analytics, cross-game achievements, and a streamlined UI—things that would take developers months to build and maintain themselves.
Sure, devs can build their own system, just like they can host their own servers instead of using AWS. But why reinvent the wheel when you can have a ready-to-use, scalable solution that lets you focus on making your game better?
As for the pricing model, a one-time purchase wouldn’t cover long-term hosting, updates, and support. A SaaS model ensures continuous improvements and new features without forcing devs to constantly rebuild their own system.
In the long run, RoTrophies saves time, effort, and lets developers engage their players more effectively.
Don’t get your hopes up guys. Since he is hosting a custom domain and website, they might charge a hefty price for the plugin or whatever the hell it is to cover those costs.
I’m agreeing with @TimeFrenzied and @budmomo about the fact that little to nobody is going to use it if it’s paid.
How would players know about this and if the leaderboards even exist?
Respectfully, I don’t think its possible to compare Rotrophies to services like AWS. AWS is an essential, and Rotrophies is not an essential for deployment or for any game rather. It does not make sense to have such a minor part of a game like a badge or trophy system require the developer a constant recurring payment long-term.
EDIT: This would not take developers months to build. As far as cross-game achievements go, no one really asks for that.
What data have you gathered where you can draw a clear distinction between Rotrophies resulting in a boost in player’s engagement and player retention? These are extremely bold claims, and should be backed up with some analytical proof.
In some Pizza Tower Experiences, we instead have 4 Rarity Types, ranging from Lowest (Most Common) to Highest (Least Common): Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Peppinium.
“Unfortunately we live in a world where money rules over everything” yall are literally charging a MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION for badges with extra steps…
honestly this reminds me of those banlists that are linked and synced between games that every member of the community can update but for badges lmao
this would get flooded with spam trophies and become meaningless if it even does manage to get a decent amount of users
No, that’s why it will cost 4.99$, only stupid users pay to get their account instantly banned, we have two layers of moderation, so this is not a problem.
So wait even if someone pays you guys will ban them if they make what you see as “dumb” badges??? so its literally badges but worse AND YOU PAY THEM AND SOMEONE ELSE HAS TO AGREE WITH IT BEING A BADGE… this is just robbery at this point
I like the attempt to make achievements have more meaning by imposing rarity and quality requirements.
Does this system integrate with badges, so that I could use this service and just enable all my badges as trophies?
