RoVerse is Hiring

Posting on behalf of Vaktus.

Greetings everyone, my name is Vaktus and you may or may not have heard of me from the clan world. About two months ago I begun a project founded on the basis of innovating clans into something that offers far more enjoyment to all involved than the current state.

RoVerse is a ROBLOX space-sim game in the early stages of development with the goal of creating a massive, dynamic, persistent, physical universe where clans can live, colonise and conquer like real space empires. This is a non-profit community project that aims to bring out the inner potential of the clan community to create a rich and deep world full of cultural diversity and real history.

In RoVerse, players will be able to create their own customised characters and choose which nation they hail from of the RoVerse-participating groups they are members of. A player can become an explorer, a scavenger, a freelancer, a miner, a trader, a pirate, a bounty hunter, a law enforcer, a navy fighter pilot, a battleship captain, a corporate profiteer or even the leader of an empire. RoVerse is a universe of opportunities, we wish to build a living, breathing world to play in as the sandbox world of clans and highlight that to the larger audiences of ROBLOX.

Clans will be able to sign up to participate as a nation in RoVerse, submitting its own aesthetic ship and equipment designs to represent the clan in the game. Clan leaders will be able to designate specific members to have access to a ‘Command Mode’ in the galactic map. from there the clan’s Commanders are able to designate the actions of their nation such as invading a neighbouring star system. It then falls to the players to secure victory and strengthen their nation. This makes the world of RoVerse a truly unique and dynamic experience.

Over the past two months we have made fantastic progress, posting newsletters of our weekly developments each Saturday (latest here), tweeting our work on our Twitter page (here), streaming our builds on Twitch (here) and posting videos on my YouTube (here).

We’ve also been gaining a lot of attention from ROBLOX themselves, being highlighted on their Twitch as stream of the week and then just this week we were featured on their Let’s Play show where they expressed great interest and excitement for RoVerse, Slingshotjunkie even going so far as to say “It’s probably the most exciting game I’ve ever been excited for on ROBLOX”!

You can view their reactions to getting a sneak peak of RoVerse here!

Occasionally we post developer diary videos on YouTube of gameplay aspects that will be in RoVerse, we call this series “Guide to RoVerse”:

RoVerse is a massive undertaking and will take time to build. We have no misconceptions about the challenges we may face, we have several talented and creative people on our development team but such an important project cannot be taken lightly. We have plenty of builders but many of our scripters have had to become less active due to college starting.

A project like this needs a skilled, fast, very active and dedicated primary programmer that can be central to maintaining the project’s momentum during even the busiest times of the year. This scripter would be tasked with the largest and toughest portions of the project such as starting with the flight mechanics of space combat, then moving on to group management systems, base construction, planetary map generation and vehicular gameplay.

For developing in such a vital role we would only want the best and payment would befit such quality. As this is a non-profit project, we are making this game out of passion for what it will become and not for pay, however long-term professional-grade work is needed and worth the price. If you have what it takes to take this job you will be paid R$100,000 (+tax coverage) when the full game releases along with R$50,000 for continued expansion work on an ongoing basis.

#tl;dr

  • Looking for a lead programmer
  • After-tax payment is R$100,000 at release plus R$50,000 for later expansions
  • Partial compensation will be awarded for partial fulfillment of the job

Those interested can either direct message @Fractality_alt or email me at Vaktus@gmail.com to discuss details of the job and payment.

He owns a fairly popular / notorious war clan on ROBLOX and he’s lead designer for a project. Why doesn’t he just apply for the devforums?

Glory to the Vaktovian Empire

I think it’s because, as far as I know, he himself is not a developer.

But he owns VAK. That should at least get him in.

It’s a pretty important job, so we weren’t interested in waiting a month for his application to go through

Owning a group no matter how famous or notorious it is, has nothing to do with development in that itself. So just because he owns VAK shouldn’t just get him a free pass into RobloxDev.
