Rpg Game Systems

  1. A very simple question: What do you like most about the rpgs you play?
  2. What do you think would be cool to have in an RPG that you currently don’t have in most

Keep responding

  1. I like the ability to kind of “live another life” inside the game, exploring large world and having adventures - that’s pretty much the point of RPGs
  2. No grinding. Every RPG I played has quite a lot of grinding in it and it’s annoying. I also would love a large and non-repettitive world but that’s something hard to make.

A combat system that is not “x hit you for y damage” but instead kind of an Undertale style system.

I like the 2 things

  1. The different quests that are always different and not similar what so way (and no not fetch quests)
  2. The ability to make your own stuff instead of having to buy it all the time

I was wondering, what do you mean by this? I might wanna implement it into my game but dunno what it is/what you are referring to.

What I mean by this is that in Undertale, there is pacifist options as well, and when an enemy “attacks”, it uses bullet hell style gameplay.

He’s referring to a crafting system with resources. I believe.

Good shot, but I do actually believe he means a turn-based combat system with varied options to interact. “Fight”, “Mercy”, “Talk”, etc. Instead of just various attacks.

I’m slightly confused as to who’s comment you’re referring to however.

I do entirely support the idea of dynamic story lines with different endings, that’s what I got from reading through undertale wiki as I’ve never played it personally… if that’s the comment we’re referring too.

One of my childhood favourites was Adventure Quest 2D and I hope to make something like that at some point!

Have no clue where to start though… other than using Humanoid walk to point and maybe scripting the entire interactions and animations from buttons in a 2D side scroller with stories!

  1. Something only a few RPGs have:
  • A good story
  • Player-driven story
  • Exploration
  • Being Open-World with a big World, but not too big or you’ll end up like No Man’s Sky did

From what I know Undertale is the only RPG where to finish the Game you don’t have to kill anybody (even though you can)

That’s something I kind of like, it depends on 2 things:

  1. How you implement it and
  2. Where you implement it
