Storm Analysis Inc. (SAI) 1.4 Update Eldorado (2/8/24) Changelog

New Features:

  • New storms

New Storms:

  • Reflectivity presentation has more variation
  • Storms now follow hodograph and storm motion more accurately
  • Velocity now uses the “rankine vortex” model
  • Fixed upper-level storm appearance
  • Balanced hail and wind to be more realistic
  • Debris balls are more prevalent
  • DBZ presentation in hail producing cells has been improved
  • Storms can now “gust out” if their TSTM wind is above 90mph
  • Buffed frequency of storms spawning
  • Nerfed frequency of tornadoes
  • Storms can spawn closer together
  • Nerfed frequency of hail and wind reports, and buffed tornado report frequency on strong tornadoes
  • Non-tornadic storms in favorable environments can occasionally become tornadic
  • Storms now will weaken over time
  • Long track tornadoes are less frequent
  • Significant severe has a greater chance of showing a report
  • TDS heights tweaked

Private Server Controls:

  • You can now control your game on private servers!
  • Rerolling: For 10 credits you can stop the current day and reset the seed, this functions as the same function as leaving and rejoining
  • Game Speed: You can now change the gamespeed between 0x and 10x the normal
  • Bad warning kick can be disabled

Risk Generation:

  • Added TSTM risks
  • Swiss cheese risks are now very rare
  • Increased temporal resolution
  • Increased speed of generation
  • Risks now also account for temporal length of a risk, instead of just the highest values
  • High/Mdt risks are rarer
  • Report verification improved
  • Risk sizes are now more realistic
  • Risks can now over perform or underperform

Environment (Thermodynamics):

  • Improved Lapse Rates

  • Added gulf moisture

  • Fixed extreme morning/afternoon temperatures

  • Added dry patches across the Southwest and Rocky Mountains

  • 70F dew point is rarer

  • Dew points are now capped at 84f

  • Temperatures rarely exceed 95F

  • Moisture tends to pool in ridges

  • CAPE events above 5k is now rare

  • Areas with higher moisture will have weaker lapse rates

  • EL heights are more realistic

  • LCL/LFC heights are more accurate to real life

  • EML now dries out the moisture

  • Temperature/Moisture will be lower above the jet streak and immediately in front sometimes

  • Re-did the SPC risk formulas

  • STP, SCP, SHIP, WDGP are all SHARPPY accurate

  • Virtual temp is SHARPPY accurate

  • Lapse rates are SHARPPY accurate

Environment (Kinematics):

  • Added Jet stream
  • SRH values are now SHARPPY accurate
  • Added low level jet
  • LLJ can reach up to 60+ kts
  • Wind profiles are far more realistic
  • Wind increases in the evening/overnight
  • Basic forcing mechanisms have been added
  • Bunker’s Right/Left and Mean Motion are now SHARPPY accurate
  • Changed color table for wind to match PivotalWeather’s color table

Chasing:

  • Mobile now has chasing buttons

  • Buffed chasing credits earned

  • Buffed range in which you earn credits

  • Credits earned increases with strength of storm

  • “Zero-metering” or getting too close to the couplet will cause you to lose credits

UI:

  • Updated the main UI to be more open and easy to navigate
  • Mobile UI is now more usable
  • UI optimized
  • Revised main menu intro
  • Shop/Color Table UI performance improved
  • Shop does not refresh the entire section when buying an item
  • Tutorial UI improved
  • Warning UI improved

Soundings:

  • Hodograph display improved
  • Added 10kts labels on hodographs

Radar:

  • Radars will now be light blue when they are active
  • Radars load faster
  • Radars will stop loading upon changing radar, refreshing from the new radar
  • Radar product button will now appear green in the UI
  • Radar is less laggy
  • Radars will go down less often, needing stronger storms and closer range

History:

  • History menu now shows the max risk of tornado/wind/hail when you select a day
  • Days will now show the max categorial risk in the history menu
  • Days will show [RR] if they were rerolled
  • Days without tornado reports will still show wind and hail report information

Misc:

  • Nerfed the chances of violent tornadoes occurring outside of the risk area
  • Added 4 BR color tables
  • Added 2 BV color tables
  • Added 3 CC color tables
  • Grapefruit/DVD hail reports added
  • Added over a dozen new report descriptions
  • Added non-observed TSTM damage reports
  • Added new splash texts
  • Added more animation to the main menu
  • Added “0 Hour” button to Parameters
  • General Memory improvements
  • Numerous lag fixes
  • Colortables will now save when you leave the game
  • Zooming into chaser dot/tornado track is quicker and zooms in less
  • Added secret splash texts
  • Removed slenderman

Bug Fixes:

  • EF4-175 happens less often
  • Off-shore no longer has random values when on a NSS risk
  • Infinite track tornadoes are gone
  • Tornadoes not counting to the archive do not happen
  • Radar randomly freezing fixed
  • Hodographs zooming in extremely close has been fixed
  • History menu not loading days has been fixed
