Same game but different content depending on age

  1. What do you want to achieve?
Have one game that can tailor the content according to player age.

  2. What is the issue?
All the roblox recommendations are to be very specific about the target audience, however, I wonder if I can either use the player age (if that’s possible to get) or let the player choose the type of game he/she wants. I am under the impression that even the choice of a skybox (more colorful versus dark themes) can make an impact.
But the issue is that making a choice to pick one or another range, or not making a choice, can have consequences in wasted development time.

What are your thoughts on having a menu for new players to let them choose? (Please, the image below is just an EXAMPLE of what I mean). In the example below, the left-hand side choice could be for players 13 and under while the right-hand side choice could aim at older audience with “darker” themes.

  1. What solutions have you thought of so far?
I have only tried making some small changes to the game, such as color scheme, music choice, skybox image, difficulty, etc at incremental pace, but since I have very few daily players, it’s hard to get to a conclusion.

I think that’s a great idea! With the way Roblox is going right now, “aging up” as they put it, I think it gives players more options and if you add different features to the modes, there’s more playability!
