Sand Shark GFX with Photoshop Adjustments

I’m not necessarily asking for feedback here, I just wanted to showcase the GFX because I was pretty happy I was able to get Match Color in Photoshop to work well with the character. The initial render was tinted more grey, and wasn’t in anyway shape or form what I wanted. Creations Feedback does allow showcase, but since it is a feedback sort I expect to receive some anyways (which is fine btw!)

I wanted to see if I was able to doctor the image enough to give it a proper beach vibe (not to mention the huge mistake of adding a platform below when I could have used a real life image to complement everything)

So basically, as you can tell, the GFX contains a sand shark (being my character) polishing the katana sheath with a piece of leather.

Anyways here is the before and after:

BEFORE

AFTER

Here is some issues I’m already aware of that I can save your keystrokes for:

Common Issues that will be pointed out
  • Weird shadows cast causing this weird X formation on the characters torso

  • Perspective doesn’t really look real; The character looks like it’s high in the sky, but randomly is on a platform. This relates back to what I said earlier when I mentioned “The initial render was tinted more grey, and wasn’t in anyway shape or form what I wanted.” and that awkward platform contributes to it. Had it not been there, and I picked a better background it would have been fine, but my goal wasn’t perspective here, since I know I’d get nowhere with it

  • It’s too bright! Well, actually, it’s not! My goal was to get this lighting because the older one was a lot more grey and darker, and didn’t match the vibe of the sky, so I fixed that with proper Adjustment Layers + Match Color for getting the blue tint from the sky.

  • Misc. boat in the background. I literally forgot to move it, got too lazy.

Anyways aside from that small list of things, I’m quite proud of it, and it eventually led to me making another GFX that took the same type of lighting, but gave it better context.

If you still want to give feedback, I’ll appreciate every bit of it; just know I’m aware it’s far from a realistic image.

Looks nice!

My suggestions are that the background is way too harsh with the platform. Also, the angle/color of the platform makes it seem like water, and that’s what I thought at first. The sky clashes with the hard edge of the platform, making it seem unrealistic as you already are aware of that.

Keep it up! :happy3:

Yes, all this was already stated as you have mentioned, but just in case others need to see:

I still appreciate the fact that another person can agree that this part of the image wasn’t a favorite.

Now I will move onto photoshopping a roblox character into an actual real life scene
