This was very easy to make, the main thing that makes it work it that it is not a real cube, the cube you see as the “Sand” has its can collide turned off, and there is a ball welding to it, the ball is the same size, and it is inside the cube, with its collide turned on.

So, the cube acts like a ball, while being a cube.

An idea to optimize it: after the parts stop moving, maybe make the ball part anchor?
