Save the Princess Obby - Seeking Feedback

Hi everyone!

A year ago, I launched Save the Princess Obby :princess::crossed_swords: on Roblox, a medieval fantasy adventure. Since then, I’ve been working on it trying to enhance its gameplay, adding varied difficulty levels, a lives system, leaderboards, and improved graphics. Despite my efforts and some Robux spent on promotion, it hasn’t taken off as I hoped.

:mag: I’m seeking your honest feedback:

  • What do you think of the game?
  • Any ideas to make it more engaging and fun?

 Also, a puzzle: even after a year, searching “Save the Princess Obby” in Roblox doesn’t show my game. Updated the questionnaire too. Any clue why?

Looking forward to your comments!

I’d say I’ll rate this a 8/10! Impressive. The only issue is that the “castle” obby doesn’t have any walls meaning if a player is good enough at obbies, they can simply just wrap around obstacles like how I did at the spike parts.

And I somehow gotten a data wipe because when I was playing in Hard Mode and died to those fire vent thingies, I spawn at the beginning for some whatever reason.

Alrighty, when I game test, I separate it into 4 simple categories! These categories are appearance when you click on the game, the ability to replay, game design, and lastly in this case, the obstacles! I will keep this positive and I will start by saying that you clearly took the time to focus on the game!

Appearance when Clicked
I will talk on how the icon and thumbnails look. The icon is pretty classic, not that it’s bad, but I think that it can use some eye catchers! The thumbnails are nice however, and compliment the overall aesthetic of the game! I commend you on putting actual pictures of the game, as that helps me see how the game looks without joining! Overall, I’d click on it for the most part!

The Ability to Replay
Now, the obby is pretty short, meaning I beat it in a good 2-4 minutes. I see the gameplay is somewhat like TOH and it’s a race. However, the obby stays the same each time, meaning after my 3 round testing for bugs, I got sort of bored. This can easily be fixed with maybe regenerating stages differently if you have time like that. Daily rewards are also recommended!

Game Design
I like how it stays on 1 theme. Medival, it’s very obvious which is nice to see. I like how cobblestone is used effectively and how the castle is made, this one is short, but it’s important and crucial for a game.

The Obstacles
The obstacles are simplistic, spikes, mousetraps, and walking cobblestone paths! It’s nice, but it could use a wider variety.

All in all it’s a solid 7/10, it could stand out a little more, also congrats on over 11K visits! Please have a nice day!

Hey, thanks a lot for the 8/10 rating!

You’r right about the wrap around obstacles - thanks.

About the reset issue, it wasn’t a data wipe but rather the ‘five lives’ system kicking in. Seems like you used up your lives - see screen below. This system might not be as clear to players, especially since it’s not a common feature in most Roblox games. I’m considering making this more obvious or perhaps rethinking the system entirely.

Thanks again for your valuable feedback!

Thanks for such a detailed and constructive review!

Appearance when Clicked - I’ll take your advice on the icon and consider adding some eye-catching elements to make it stand out more.

The Ability to Replay - I think your right, the game is short (2-4 minutes to complete) and the obstacle course does not change, so after 3 plays the player might get bored.

The Obstacles - I’m considering to introduce more levels with diverse and creative obstacles, and randomising their order on game load.

Thanks again for great suggestions and positive rating.

Oh, well, I think you should add in something to remind the player about the life system maybe like some tutorial or such

Princess-saving? Coins? Spikes and other miscellaneous weaponry threatening your life? Sounds like Super Mario to me.
