Saving fails SILENTLY for filenames containing non-ASCII characters

Repro steps: Save a default baseplate place to a filename containing non-ASCII characters, e.g. “鮣ϴ.rbxl”, then try reopening it.

Expected result: the file is saved properly and reopens to a place with a baseplate.

Actual result: an empty (0-byte) file is saved which studio cannot reopen. No indication is given that saving failed!

Does Windows even support file names with non-ASCII characters?
I’ve never done it before personally.

Windows supports UTF-8 for filenames, according to this

According to that, Windows doesn’t support UTF-8 names, and it never did.
In the meantime, our Studio team are working on a fix.
