Saw a cool effect in a game but I have no idea how the creator did it

I thought it was an interesting game and I really liked the way it looked.
When I saw this wave effect in this image I wondered HOW the creator did it :sob:

I think they used a image and slightly moved rotated it

Nah looks like its a bunch of different textures they used to animate it sort of like a flipbook

I think the creator might’ve done something like a frame-by-frame animation/gif. Or in others words, made a spritesheet and then cropped the image to 1 frame and change a frame each second or something.

maybe editable image or a constantly changing image?
