Scale Snap! - a small plugin for scaling parts with your keyboard

Scale Snap is a small plugin that allows the use of keys to scale parts precisely instead of dragging a handle with the mouse. You can download it here, and it’s also open-sourced here!

Setup

  1. Download the plugin, either through Roblox or by installing the latest release in your local plugins folder.
  2. Open the Customize Shortcuts Window in Roblox Studio

  3. Search “snap” and bind these to whatever keys you’d like to use!

Usage

Click on a part’s face in studio and toggle Scale Snap, then extend or retract part faces with the keys on your keyboard

Tips!

  • Change Scale Snap’s increment by changing your studio move increment in the Model tab
  • You can quickly check if the plugin is toggled by looking in the bottom right corner of the viewport

put cool plug-in

its got snap to it! :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Can you please make a version of this where you drag the faces with your mouse?

I’ve been seeking something just like this!

Isn’t that just the default scale tool?

No, the default one requires you to click on a handle.

Just tested it out and noticed that the movement increment won’t go below .01, is this intentional?

i’m guessing that’s because it copies your studio move increment and the smallest increment you can have is 0.01 (off) ? i’ll make a special case for that in the next update where 0.01 → 0.001

i feel like that might be a *bit* annoying if you’re trying to select faces (and soon multiple faces), though the plugin is open source and you can add that if you’d like!

thought about this some more: i think i’ll introduce a “fine precision” mode toggle that uses an increment 1/10th the size of your studio increment, so you’ll be able to do any number 0.001-0.01 instead of just 0.001.

I’m looking forward to it :+1:
