Scattering Trees

Hi,

I made a tree model by putting mesh parts and cylinders together and made it into a group, but now I want to put that model around everywhere in my map and just randomly, I also want them to be a little bit close together. Its a big map more than 1000 studs area where I want to put trees, and the ground is just normal terrain and its also quite bumpy. I used to just use copy and paste all over the place with the trees and manually move them to places. It works but it takes too long for this big map and also for some reason even though my model does not have too many mesh parts it is laggy when I move it. So is there any better way?
