As of the latest Roblox update roughly a few hours ago at the time of writing, screensharing Roblox to Discord will cause the screen to display properly for one frame, and go completely white afterwards.
Also, screensharing Roblox Studio results in a grey screen being displayed, with FILE at the top left
I haven’t recently tried sharing Roblox, but I can vouch for Studio not showing up correctly as of a couple days ago.
From my experience:
Studio doesn’t render the viewport correctly (I believe that’s the accurate term in this situation) - GUI elements (ie those in startergui) show up fine, it’s just anything in 3D space shows up invisible (the grey area presumably being the actual studio window background, light mode would likely be white)
Adding onto that, any sort of sub-window doesn’t want to appear. (ie properties, explorer, toolbox)
Even if it’s a currently selected tab on the same window as the main game area (opening the script editor up in the same sub-window/section as the main game view) it still shows that main game area (again, just the GUI part of it)
This has also started happening to me on OBS Window Capture, the way I fixed it was changing the capture method to Windows 10 (1903 and up), obviously with Discord you can’t really change the Capture Method as they might be still using the BitBlt (Windows 7 and up) version.
So we’ll either have to wait for Discord or Roblox to fix this, as this might’ve taken action when Roblox removed support for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1. Not entirely sure though!
My friend is also having this exact issue and has an RTX 4070 (Windows 11). I even had them update their graphics drivers. I don’t have this issue on an RTX 3080 Ti (Windows 10). I’d love to know what graphics cards everyone else has that are also having this issue.
Update
It will stream properly if streamed in full-screen and if you are tabbed into the game.
I currently use a NVidia GeForce RTX 4060 on Windows 11, it might just be the 40 series, something along those lines. But I wouldn’t have a clue if @Bearlandonroblox is having issues on a 20 series.
And what @MightyDantheman said, that might make sense considering they’re on a windows 10 and me and Bear are both on Windows 11.
I have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 and I also have this issue. I am running Windows 11. I will install Windows 10 on another drive and see if the problem is operating system based. But so far, it looks like this issue is primarily for Windows 11 users.
Alright, so I installed Windows 10 on a secondary drive, updated it to the latest version and installed all drivers. ROBLOX Studio seems to work when being streamed to Discord. Also, ROBLOX itself seems to not display a problematic white screen, which is good. This looks like a Windows 11 related issue. But I’ll run more tests.
it seems like it is not only limited to windows 11, because i am on windows 10 and have been seeing the same issue lately, but a little different.
one frame of the game viewport shows up, as said in the first post. but rather than the entire screen going white, it only shows the GUI elements. here is a screenshot
