Despite me not being an OG, (Joining within 2020,) I actually liked the older versions of Roblox NOT because of “oooh old roblox better because no slender bring back old roblox” but I’d just like how simple and chaotic (And when I mean chaotic, I mean the physics) Roblox was back then.
Thanks to some help of a few some people, I manage to create a now paused project about a huge party located around Builderman’s house that takes place in 2007-2009 Roblox. It looks quite accurate enough although I’d want to hear your critism about the screenshots I will provide you;
Maybe try not to necropost next time (Try to DM me), but I’ll explain it to you.
I checked the old place about the lighting settings, so here’s the stuff:
The Technology is Compatibility, although since Roblox is removing it for whatever reason, use Voxel.
Brightness is set to 1.
Both EnvironmentDiffuseScale & EnvironmentSpecularScale are set to 0.
Global Shadows are disabled for obvious reasons.
ExposureCompensastion was set to 0.
Now, I haven’t added this since I thought it was unnecessary. But sometimes, adding an artificial ColorCorrectionEffect and increasing the constract by a small amount like (0.2) can help.
The lighting recipe was essentially created by SubtotalAnt8185 from an old post I made right here. Anyway, Roblox was actually kind enough to let me see the settings of the lighting the screenshot takes place in when I migrated it to Voxel. I decided to recreate it and gotta say, it looked surprisingly good. I actually like this.
