Hi developers! Today I have a question for you. A few days ago something of weird is happened, I think that an account has been compromised but I’m not sure, anyways this is not the question. The real question is: if I make an account pin system that is optional, is it violating some ToS’ rule?
To don’t make any problem with the ToS rules what I thinked is: the pin will be under 8 characters that is the min characters that a roblox account password require so the pin will cannot be the account password and it will must be at least 5 character so it cannot be the account settings pin because it must be as max 4 characters.
This is how I thinked to make it to don’t violate the rules.
You are probably thinking: “why do you need this?”, the reason because I want to make it is give to the players the chance to lock their account on my game if it gets compromised. The pin will not be showed in the settings and to change it the player will have to insert the old one so I think it should be secure.
Let me know what you think about this and if it violates the roblox rules. Any answer is appreciated!
If you need any clarification don’t worry and ask.
Right now it only allows you to change your settings. They should make it so your pin is required for everything on your account. So you want to play a game enter you pin, you want to make a group enter your pin. I get that it could be tedious to enter it over and over again, but it’s better than getting hacked and them giving out group funds, selling items etc.
I think that roblox could implement this, possibly an option that allows you to unlock your code for a specific amount of time. I know not everyone has a pin, but I would highly recommend that roblox could find a way to get people to make a pin, maybe a notifcation before they play a game saying “Keep safe! Create a pin in settings…” or something along those lines.
As for your scenario, What if someone forgets their pin? There’s no real way to get it replaced unless they contact you or your team if you have one. I think if roblox could just add a pin to everything it would fix your issue and will help many others.
If you read this, hopefully you agree with me. If you don’t feel free to let me know. Have a good day!
Interesting but that is not litterally what I was asking, for the change pin sysem I could find a way. I want to make it because if the account gets compromised the owner can come to me or to my team and ask to ban the account and we will ask for the in-game account pin and if it is right we will ban the account.
My point still stands, what if they can’t remember their pin?
I would like to add, picture this. I am playing your game, and someone in the game decides to contact you saying my account “TheDCraft” has been hacked, and I can’t remember the pin. What would you do?
Good night! I think the system can easily be bypassed by a hacker easily, especially on the client side. Well actually, if done right then it could work. But it’s quite an unnecessary feature in the sense there are so many things can go wrong and will go wrong, and you won’t know how to deal with them.
Most cases when a player get’s there account hacked it’s because of there own doing, and I get you want to make it so they can’t lose any items, etc but It would cause more problems for you and the player. I would just make your game without the pin system and just wait for roblox to improve their security, and I’m sure they will, because it would benefit them massively and the players .
TL;DR: The pin system can easily be bypassed if done incorrectly, even if you managed to make it so they can reset there password and just wait for roblox to improve their security. We just have to be patient and give them time.
