Roblox came out with a new option for selection bounds recently (probably many months ago as of writing this, since I don’t use studio that much these days due to being busy), and I really liked it, and it was nice and refreshing and honestly impressive that the selection bounds would outline any object you would make at any angle you look at it. It’s something I’ve wanted in studio for a while but never really cared enough to purchase or make my own plugin or something; but this feature was very welcomed to me.
This part is only for those who dont know the difference between bounding boxes and outline. Skip if you know
Now, at this point, I do have to give a disclaimer for those confused. Im talking about this:
For those who don’t know, “Bounding Boxes” is the outline tool that Roblox has had pretty much up until now, where you can now change it to either Bounding Boxes, Outline, or both. Bounding Boxes simply just creates a box outline around the entire object or group that’s selected, with a bit of space out from the actual object. The “outlines” option is what I’m having issues with.
As of probably 2 months ago, I noticed my outlines don’t show up, at all. At first, I thought this was a glitch or something, and so I waited for the next Roblox studio update, which really meant I let studio sit there for 2 months because of school shenanigans. Now, I could see the move arrows and resize spheres and rotate circles, but it was hard to know otherwise what object I was selecting, and if I had even selected anything. Everything worked fine as I selected the object, just as normal, but I simply could not see the outline of said object. I heavily rely on that selection box with my work. On the contrary, the Bounding Boxes do show up and work fine, but I’d much rather use outlines so that there’s not huge clunky boxes everywhere that don’t even tell me 100% what’s selected (I usually model things that have smaller integrated parts in them compared to the larger overall object). I’ve seen other discussions about the regular bounding boxes not working, and they’ve said to try the selection bounds options in studio settings. I tried that, hoping to see if maybe changing that will also work with the outlines option, and all my settings were at default, but I messed around with it a bit and nothing changed. So, what I’m asking for is help as to why this might be happening and what I could do to fix it. Living with bounding boxes isn’t the worst thing, especially since it’s what I worked with for years, but I would definitely like to have an actual outline for my objects so I can see exactly what is selected. Thanks in advance!
