Send Copies of User Ads Before Removing the Feature

As a group owner and developer, I am incredibly frustrated and disappointed by the announcement of Roblox removing user ads in Q1 2024. I’ve used user ads since first creating my group in 2011, and in the time since have uploaded many many ads. User ads have been the single most useful tool for the growth of my games and community.

I would like Roblox to send developers copies of the user ads that they have uploaded over the years. I want .jpgs and .png files of all of the banner ads before the feature is removed. Developers are currently unable to view and save user ad images uploaded pre-2015.

Roblox please allow developers to save copies of their old user ads before deleting the feature.

Any reason why you can’t download them yourself from here?

Maybe a me issue, but the thumbnail preview is a bit broken. Clicking on the broken thumbnail, closing the popup preview, and then reopening it fixed any problems I had.

Clicking on previews pre-2015 do not preview the image, instead they link to the public page of whichever item or group was being advertised.

For those of us either hundreds of uploaded ads it is also very much a pain to manually save each one.

FWIW I come from 2009, I can download my old user ads just fine. You must have a bug.

Perhaps, if so I’ve had this bug persistently on multiple devices over the course of about 8 years.

I have this bug on some of my older ads too. However, you can get the full-sized image with the following steps:

  1. Go to https://www.roblox.com/develop?Page=ads
  2. Right click the image thumbnail of the broken ad in Google Chrome or Firefox or Edge
  3. Select “Inspect”
  4. From Inspect Element, get the CDN url of the image thumbnail (e.g. https://tr.rbxcdn.com/038162cf810488d97bd62567711615fb/110/110/Image/Png)
  5. Get the CDN url of a newer ad of the same dimensional format (e.g. https://tr.rbxcdn.com/2190d9c3fb097388893586d64deaa4a3/728/90/Image/Png)
  6. Replace the image dimensions of the CDN url from step 3 to match step 4 (e.g. https://tr.rbxcdn.com/038162cf810488d97bd62567711615fb/728/90/Image/Png)

You now have your full-sized ad image. Although, this is a bit tedious.
