I am struggling to figure out how to make the ball look like it’s floating in mid-air

As you can see in the picture that the ball seems to be an oval and not simply a sphere. Why not try replicating it? It may be hard but with some maths you can make the ball look like a oval.

Adding on the good suggestion above, maybe turn up your graphics for a god damn shadow

You don’t understand the ball is not a completely a sphere nor an oval, but it’s a sculpted mesh to look like a Soccer ball

Exactly so you can modify the scale of the ball.

I am aware of the low graphics and also graphics don’t play a huge role in my game since im mostly focused on making a competive gameplay in the game maybe try giving some good advise about that

Shadows can help indicate where the object is, like how if you look at a face without lighting it looks flat, but with lighting it has depth.

Perhaps you could make an artificial shadow underneath the ball with a semi-transparent cylinder? You could also change the cylinder’s size to indicate how far off the ground the ball is.

maybe add a fake shadow that always is below the ball
and this fake shadow gets darker and darker the closer to the ground it is
use a decal for this

or add some kind of effect when the ball is in the air
otherwise just be on high graphics
