I have a game which is pretty resource-intense and I found that the most “efficient” server size so that both PC, console and mobile players can enjoy the experience without having any lag issues is 6 players.
The experience would benefit much more from a larger server size, so I came up with a few ideas:
Idea 1.
Set the server size to a bigger number (eg. 15) and manually limit it to 6 with a script in public servers, and keep it default (so 15 players) in private servers.
Idea 2.
Create a duplicate of the main place with a bigger server size and use that for private servers, creating a custom VIP Servers system, so that when you create a VIP server you create a Reserved Server on duplicate place with a bigger server size.
My biggest question is: would this affect the Roblox algorithm and how? (Mainly with Idea 1)
I’m thinking it could maybe penalize the game seeing it can never fill severs and would probably have some impacts on Roblox’s own “server-assigning” algorithm.
What’s your ideas? Is there any resources on this topic? Do you have any other possible solutions?
