SFOTH Gears don't translate VertexColor in 3D Mode

The following gears below appear like Linked Sword in 3D mode, likely since the texture of all of them have the same texture as Linked Sword, but with a shift in VertexColor. They appear properly in 2D mode.

While minor, especially because of how expensive and rare these items are, it’s unlikely to affect many users, but this could cause users who are affected to assume they’re buying something that isn’t what it truly is if they’re over 3D mode when making a purchase, so it’s likely important in the fact that it could be misleading.

Sadly, an engineer previously said that Roblox has quit all support for gears. Hopefully, they’ll reconsider fixing these iconic swords after seeing this report :slightly_smiling_face: Especially, considering it’s almost false advertising like you said and wouldn’t be hard to fix.

feature request: convert gears to accessories

There’s actually a feature request for this. I’ll mention it here in case the engineers are interested in looking into an alternative solution.

Maybe the best option for the swords is to report it to the website team, it’s technically a web bug right? They can’t tell us they don’t fix gear because they’d just be fixing a web bug!

It feels very scammy to let something so expensive stay broken. I got my DH before they broke the rendering and now they’re letting UGC that looks more like the real deal in 3D view to be sold for 1/60,000th of the price. Their insistence on keeping gear broken is really disheartening.

that quote is just “we can’t fix this because we don’t want to”

Most likely the same team would be assigned to it when the bug gets triaged internally, or it would be closed out for being a duplicate

Thanks for the report! We’ll follow up when we have an update for you.
