Shadow Casting & Softness on Point lights vs Surface lights

I’ve recently been working on a window scene to get semi-realistic lighting. Still, I’ve run into significant issues with the Softness of the shadows on surface lights compared to point lights and how they interact with mesh. As you can tell by the images below the shadow are a lot less accurate and properly rendered. Shadow softness doesn’t work in this case and neither does any of the property options on my source of light or any mesh it interacts with.
