Reproduction Steps
Not 100% sure how this issue is created, I think it’s just the current behavior of Layered Clothing in general. But in this file I have 3 clothing items, Pants, Left Boot, and Right Boot. Just fire up Play Solo and run around, you’ll immediately see the problem with the legs in your shadow, works with all avatars I’ve tested so far.
Expected Behavior
I expect shadows to look correct for humanoids wearing layered clothing.
Actual Behavior
It looks like shadows for clothing covered objects are being calculated based on incorrect animation data. Having experience with rigs in the past, in the shadow, it looks almost as if the joints for layered clothing covered parts are inverted.
Workaround
Aside from disabling shadows I have no workaround for this.

After testing I did seem to find a new bug regarding your issue, So It is actually rendering your shadows in the wrong place oddly enough.
Here’s an image with both the Jacket and Pants with CastShadows enabled everything else is disabled but for some strange reason its rendering the pants overlaying the Jacket,
You can clearly see the suns position is not lining up with the shadows at all.
This is just data I’ve gathered personally that may help the engineers.
tldr; It appears UGC created layered clothing will sometimes render its shadows in the incorrect location. This effect does not seem to take place on Roblox created Layered clothing Items.
Still unfixed as of 2022-07-11. It really is annoying me since I am someone who loves lighting and this hurts my brain to see. I am hoping this gets fixed.
The only reason I can think of for this not being fixed is that staff are deliberately avoiding any posts I bump because they despise how much better, handsome, and overall cooler my avatar is compared to theirs.
It has been so long since there was any update on this. I really hope this gets fixed soon as it bothers me so much
Update: I have been staring at it so much and it still bothers me. One of my games uses first-person bodies and I decided to make all local players have no shadows since the shadows are so broken
Unfortunately, although the code for this has been fixed for over a week, we are still waiting for QA to test it, to make sure it doesn’t cause other averse effects. This is planned to happen tomorrow, after which we will flip the flag and it will instantly fix the issue in live clients.
I hope this helps, and thanks for being ‘on-the-ball’ on this issue.
