Sharpshooter Mines - By Cindering

I know this game isn’t new but I’m really enjoying it right now.

Sharpshooter Mines

The game mechanics are beautiful  The game feels like it has an incomplete feeling of persistence between play sessions but I really appreciate the approach. The weapon crafting is also pretty cool and I really enjoy it. My biggest complaint is that the main gameplay is mining and fighting on a static and kinda bland map.

I love the game so much that I’m considering making a similar game inspired by some of the game’s mechanics!

A lot of people have been comparing my new game to Sharpshooter Mines except with full base customization, control and persistence (even though there’s no PVP or manual labor element atm.)

I personally had a ton of fun playing Sharpshooter Mines when it was first released, creating a small band of followers and dominating everyone at night, but found there to be too little re-play value for the game to have serious long-term longevity.

A map rotation and a large addition of new base add-ons could probably give the game something close to the original impact of its launch.

I was considering map rotation with unique resources per map and limited resources. In contrast to the gold system that I thought felt disconnected, I’m considering using ammunition as currency and ammunition.

I don’t mean to turn this into the nick’s future plans thread but I thought I’d mention what I felt could be improved too.

Thank you!
I actually have a couple of maps in reserve (though they needed a bit of fixing up) - alas, I ended up never adding them due to the game’s popularity dropping like a rock :stuck_out_tongue:

The biggest issue was the game’s mechanics. The vast majority of people hated losing stuff on death, and the game is quite complicated overall. Someday if I revisit the game, I’ll definitely simplify everything and make sure everything that should be persistent, is persistent.

I was thinking about what it would be like as a round-based game, rather than a tycoon…

When I played this game, I was inspired to make a game called Gold Rush.

Though, I am being hesitant and very shy on developing, worried that I would be copying another game that’s being developed. (Worst feeling in the world…)

However, gold and gems are generated in the center of the map, users must collect them, the more they have, the slower they are.

They can purchase ‘goodies’ to help them collect as much gold as possible.
They must defend the storage unit of gold they have by placing blocks and defensive items on their baseplate.
