Shift Lock Appears to be Broken?

Hello Everyone,

Just noticed a bug starting around 4:30 PM EST. It seems that shift lock is broken in all games. Not sure if this is just me, (please let me know!). Here is some more information:

Sorry for using your game @BelowNatural, just noticed while in game!

Repro

  1. Join any game.
  2. Turn on Shift Lock
  3. Enable it and you can see your mouse can move freely.

More Info

I looked through Client Error logs, and did not see anything in particular. I also got a few other people to check that this is happening for them, too.

If I find any other information I’ll add it, but as of now, this is all I have. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks! :slightly_smiling_face:

EDIT: Done some more testing, it works in some games and not in others… can’t find what it might be related to. Could possibly have to do with the new bubble chat somehow? I’ve only seen it happen in games with the new bubble chat.

I think your just mistaken, in build mode in Bloxburg this happens too and Bloxburg doesn’t have Bubble Chat. Would be useful to have a full list of games it is occurring in.

I believe in the background you are playing Tower Defense Simulator, generally you will want it on for that as you can click on in game items to upgrade etc.

Probably not a bug. If you have any visible button inside the players GUI with the Modal value checked, the mouse will move freely when locked. For example, zooming in will not lock your mouse to the center and you can click GUI elements that are not in the center.

Holding Right Click will temporarily lock it back.

But this behavior isn’t intended. When shift lock is enabled, the mouse is supposed to be locked at all times. I don’t think I made that very clear. I’ll add that into the report.

No, it is not. Read the developer documentation on it:

It states that:

If true while the GUI element is visible, the mouse will not be locked unless the right mouse button is down.

Shift lock does count as a mouse lock, thus meaning it will not be locked.

Hm, interesting. I wasn’t aware of this behavior. I’ll do some more research.
