Shop Building Feedback

Hello, I am currently creating a shop. The idea is that you will control a camera that can move to focus on each item. Though, it might be used as a shop in the 3D world with full control over your character. I haven’t decided yet. Any feedback is welcome because I have never built anything like this before. An NPC (shopkeeper) will be added in the future. All models (lanterns, weapons, signs) are not final, though feedback is also welcome on how to improve placement, readability, etc. (I will add item names in the future, but I just want the general idea.)

I think it looks good just add PBR textures and increase your editor quality level if you can.
and maybe add a NPC

if you don’t know how then you have a walk through

1 Open Studio Settings: Click on File > Studio Settings
2 Change Quality Level: Go to Rendering. Select Editor Quality Level. Choose your desired level.

I used material variants for all the non-free models. Are those the same as PBR? On the docs it says they both use PBR textures, the only difference being that material variants can be tiles.

As for the NPC, I forgot to mention in the post that I will add one in the future. I have changed the post to reflect this. Thanks.

Minor improvements:

  • NPC (Shopkeeper)
  • Candles for extra visibility
  • slight change in RopeConstraint color and thickness

This shop building looks great! Good job on it! How long did it take to create? It’s pretty dark, maybe a bit too dark. You should add some decorations to the back of it.

Good idea with the decorations, it never occurred to me that it looks kinda boring. As for the darkness, I want it to be dark as the game takes place in a very somber setting.

You still did not increase your editor quality level.

I am aware. I personally don’t see the benefit to doing that. If you can explain to me why I should, I will.

Yeah, I see it. I don’t know if it is a big difference. The shadows look way better. That being said, I am not exactly very good when it comes to environment detailing. My performance is not hindered at all by increasing it to level 21. I will keep it on. Does changing editor quality level affect anything other than how it looks during edit mode? The documentation for it is quite lackluster to say the least.

Some decorations that bring this to life might include stock on shelves or in crates. Literally the things that he would sell to you, as stock behind him.
