Shortcut to group objects with a folder

I like to group things using folders because they’re more appropriate for grouping and they don’t interfere with dragger behavior. But I always use models because there is a shortcut for it. Creating a folder in the right parent and then moving things into it is way too tedious to be doing it as much as I need it. So I want a shortcut that creates a folder and adds the selected objects, exactly like ctrl+g.

I like this idea alot. Folders are a much more versatile option.

Would it be unusual behaviour for group to create a folder by default unless there are physical instances in the selection?
