Should i call my game a simulator or not?

I’m currently making a mining game, which is pretty much a glorified skinner-box with some cool mechanics (like most simulators). The thing is, i don’t want the game to seem like just another simulator, so i’m considering naming the game something that doesn’t have the word simulator in it. The problem with naming it something different would be that people who want to play simulators would have a harder time finding my game.

Before saying that people would just leave after realizing its just another simulator, look at games such as Legends of Speed. I don’t think it would be as popular as it is if it was named “Speed Simulator” or whatever, it wouldn’t peak peoples interest.

Anyways, i’m having a hard time deciding if i should prioritize those who are looking for simulators, or those who are looking for cool new games. If you have any suggestions on what you think would work best, please give your input.

yea u can call ur game as simulator

Wayyy too many simulators out there, and they all die eventually. Keep your hardwork away from that mess, don’t call it at simulator, you may mention simulator-type or something along those lines in the description, but I highly recommend you don’t call it a simulator.

However some simulators live with that in their name, because once you have a lot of players, the gameplay matters more than the name.

To be fair, games like Pet Simulator X have been alive for years at this point, but yeah maybe the simulator genre is too saturated i should probably call it something else.

Something like Mighty Miners would probably work better than Miner Simulator X

literally call your game anything without a number or letter like X or V in it.

MM2 could’ve been called something unique like murder mystery saga or something instead of mm2

pet sim x could’ve came up with some name instead of just adding an X to the end

While a name is important I think the gameplay is the most important part. Don’t make it like mining simulator with just blocks you mine then sell like a regular simulator. Try to add adventure to it, like quests or maybe boss fights, which may be what separates your game from others.

If you do struggle with a game name like me, I recommend using chatgpt and prompt it with “game name ideas for a Roblox mining game” I don’t recommend using just the names you get unless they’re really good. Write down some good results and maybe mix them. This is just to help brainstorm and I wouldn’t rely on it. I will say that one I got was Mining Madness, if it matches your game and you like it go ahead and use it, it’s more creative than mining simulator.

So you’re telling me to do the opposite of the most popular games on the platform? idk about that one chief

nah the game is about mining ores with lasers, its pretty much a glorified skinner box with some gambling mechanics and other chance based mechanics which make the game suprisingly fun. i was thinking “Laser Simulator!” or “Laser Mining!”. I would do “Laser Mining Simulator!” but it’s too long to fit update names like “[UPDATE!] Laser Mining Simulator! :zap:” I’m currently thinking of doing Laser Simulator considering there hasn’t been any games called that before.

If your not gonna call your game [something] simulator, Type it in the description so there is no confusion.

You should call it Energy Excavation

That does sound good and there aren’t really any games called “Laser Simulator”. The title definitely looks good but like you said its to long, but “[UPDATE!] Laser Simulator!” does look good.

if your game consists of gaining profit from selling items for currency and purchasing better tools to mine even more valuable ore, then it’s a simulator.

All the more reason to maybe add more depth to it, like areas to explore and factions to join or something. maybe combat near rare resources. look I don’t know what your game is like so these predictions may be stupid or however you’d like to word it. but I’m just saying you could add more depth to it.

I stay far away from simulators. like, the second I see the word, I click off the game.

Yeah but im not making games for devs, the majority of roblox’s playerbase is children. Look at Pet Sim X, its one of, if not THE most popular game on roblox. It doesn’t have any real depth, yet it still makes preston probably over a million dollars a month. I’m probably just gonna name it Laser Simulator, its unique enough to atleast get a small playerbase considering its my first game.

Yeah you’re right, its pretty much like that except you craft the items instead of selling the ores for currency. I’m just gonna name it Laser Simulator.

Look at Deepwoken, a 13+ game, obviously no kids. yet it’s successful and has an amazing, very involved community. it wouldn’t just be for developers.

I understand where your coming from, and it’s not my game, if it will preform better by keeping it simple and for a young audience, then by all means go ahead. but if you are taking that route I highly suggest adding mobile support. without mobile support, a game meant for children will not preform as well as it could.

yeah of course im adding mobile support

Don’t put simulator in the title. I personally stay away from simulators as they are all boring clickers. Also if you are concerned that people who do like simulators and will have trouble finding yours, don’t worry, not many people search up “simulator” or anything along those lines. Hope this helped.
